I just got a new Pedaltrain yesterday. It's the Pedaltrain 1 with the hardcase.

I already got all my pedals velcro-ed on there. I was wondering if you guys have any tips for setting it up (especially with routing cables neatly underneath).

Here's a photo of it in it's current state.


As you can see, I've left myself some room to grow. Also my pedals aren't plugged into a power supply yet (I have a one spot.. I know I know) and I know it needs more fuzz. I have a Hoof on it's way

Here's mine:




I have a Voodoo Lab PP2 that fits directly underneath the top rails of the Pedaltrain, as it was built that way. You just need to drill holes into the bottom of the Train. Routing cables is super easy... you should have received some zip ties with the PT, so once you get everything placed properly, you can zip tie the cords together and fit them snugly up into the concavities of the underside of the PT. I'd show you the bottom of mine, but I was literally tearing mine apart before posting this! Just doing some rearranging.

Goto Lows and find their zip tie section and just use zip ties and the connectors they have there. Also think about soldering your own patch cables.

Yeah I got the zip ties and mounting brackets. Just no PP2 yet. I'm pretty broke right now so a PP2 will have to wait.

I was gonna ask for pics of the bottom of your guys' pedaltrains.

Where do you get the parts to solder your own patch cables? Also how easy is it to take a cable with a straight jack and replace it with an angled jack?

I'm not any good with soldering or building shit (though I haven't tried), so I just got a LAVA kit from Tom at Fuzzhugger.com. They're solder-free connectors, and they are pretty easy to put together. They sound great, too.

It's not too hard to put the pedals and cables together and then zip-tie them... just make sure everything is in place before you start zip-tying, or you might find you didn't leave enough slack when bunching different ones together. I made a few errors when first doing mine (and the second and third times), but it's pretty easy to do. Zip ties are cheap, so it's no big deal if you have to try it a few times.

Just Google "pedaltrain" and look at the images and you'll find a lot of tight bottoms.

Looks like some of those are JR.s, but you get the idea. I'm going to downsize to a JR. myself... gonna move the DL-4 off of it so it's not stuck to the above board (I have another board that I'd like to use the DL-4 with on the side, so I'd like it to be free-floating), and probably getting rid of the Whammy, as it's a hottie, but I grew out of it. Now the nail-biting as to whether or not I can fit the 8 pedals I want onto a JR., but from the looks of the Google pics, people have crammed a whooooole lot of shit onto those... pretty creative routing.

Awesome. I know about the lava cables and I think they look excellent but they're pretty expensive. I just found out yesterday that I have to pay for some more shit to get done to my car. I swear it's just one thing after another with my car.

I actually went to guitar center to get a longer patch cable to hook my SHO and Fuzz Factory up like that and I ended up getting the pedaltrain too. Pretty ridiculous.

Dang those pictures are legit! That's just what I needed. Now I just need to find some of those sweet things holding that blue cable on the first one.

First we were getting Hoofs simultaneously and now we're reconfiguring our pedal setups. How serendipitous and fortuitous and tousitous.

It looks like the little things are probably just some sort of adhesive thing with a little loop so you can string a zip tie through it and then put the chord through the zip tie so you can essentially put a zip tie wherever you want.

Go to your local hardware store and check out some of that shit. There are a lot of really good velcro, adhesive, and zip tie etc. solutions for modern pedalboard living.
