Carvin X100B lead channel won't shut up?

Shouldn't the lead channel volume be silent when the volume is turned to zero?
I could have sworn that I could turn the lead channel volume all the way down and then just crack it open a hair so I could get a little volume for practicing late at night. The only way it's totally silent is if I turn the gain all the way down as well. Maybe I have a faulty volume pot, but the rest of it's range seems to be fine.
