Hotcake clone for Hazelwould

This one was a battle from the beginning. I had trouble getting the original layout etched properly, so I made my own layout and etched it. Then I found an error in the layout, so I had to cut a trace and solder a cap between two of the pots. Then I had to order the right value for the Gain control, but it ended not sounding right either, and I ended going with a value I had on hand the whole time. Then the original paint job got ruined when I dropped the enclosure, so I repainted it. Then as I was putting the board in the enclosure, the pads on one of the pot lifted (it had been resoldered several times), so I had to recreate the trace with some lead clipping. And now it's finally done.

JB Weld works really well for patching up holes, but it smells like crotch rot and the smell lingers.

Awesome CJ!!

Why didn't I notice this thread sooner? I was like, I guess I'll see what the knobs look like when it gets there.

Super hot!

And lovely coagulated, clotted, and crusty blood finish. :!!!:

Also, the red paint has very tiny sparkles in it, but you can't see them in the photos.

It's going out in today's mail. Tracking # to follow.

The finish looks like a really cool crawl glaze to me. How did you get it to do that?

It looks sinew-y

It was quite the accident. Apparently, some of the Duplicolor auto spray paints do not work normally when the ambient temp is 40F. When the paint hit the enclosure, it looked normal at first and then started to "puddle up" in a very cool way. So I did two color coats: dark gray underneath and red on top. Came out pretty cool, but I'm pretty sure I couldn't pull it off again.

Maybe try freezing your enclosure, and then painting it?
