Anyone build a nice pedalboard?

I want to try and build a nice one that I can close up to take to jams, gigs, etc.
Just wanted to see what you guys have come up with.
I could buy a pedaltrain but they're kindof expensive and I'd rather use the money to buy more pedals.
I have saws and drills and stuff.
I really liked the shag carpet ones I saw here. I kindof want to copy that. Can someone show me the way?

i'm interested myself... i've seen a few people transform an old samsonite suitcase into a gig-worthy pedalboard... there are a few tutorials online but i've had success with a slab of plywood and a lot of velcro....

I didn't think about a suitcase.. That's a really good idea.
I think I'm gonna try that

a suitcase is a pretty sweet idea. i nabbed an old sweet ass american tourister at a salvation army for a few bucks a while ago. it is so cool looking, but awkward to carry. conversation time!

I was thinking a thrift store would be the way to go. I'm imagining a brown pleather suitcase with an angled platform in the bottom and the inside all covered in some pimpy shag carpet.
I have a vision!

I know this is a D.I.Y. thread, but the cases over at Rondo Music are damn cheap, and decent enough quality for the price:
http://www.rondomusic.com/pedalcases.htmlI've been rocking one of the big ones for a while. Had to replace the velcro on the inside after a year, but no complaints other than that...

Thanks for the link. Those are really cheap compared to everything else I've seen.
I'm gonna try to DIY this though. I've already gotten myself all excited about it. If all else fails I'll have a sweet briefcase and I'll have to buy a pedalboard.

I've been trying to get some stuff together to build a cool board. Probably similar to pedal train but nice wooden sides. Haven't decided on what to do for the case though. Have some suitcase/briefcase kind of stuff that I've used before, but I may go a diff route with this one.

If somebody buys the camo one, I just might have to beat them over the head with a shovel. Other than that, those look pretty sweet. I only like mine because it was relatively cheep and it has a built in power supply.
This thread needs pics. I want me some DIY pedalboard porn!

Shitty cellphone picture of mine:
http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f269/Rockerninja/Image086.jpgIt's a piece of plywood on two angle plywood braces with three screws drilled into each.
I wish I'd've measured it to fit inside a suitcase, because now I can't find one that works, but building a box or cover for it shouldn't be too hard.
Good luck, it's a very easy and satisfying project.
