http://www.cavepassivepedals.com.au/Fuckin' passive fuzz pedals and shit. No batteries or power necessary, it's pretty neat. I bought The Wasp a little while ago, and the sound is pretty okay, there is an unfortunate volume drop, but COME ON these things are completely passive, and that is cool as all get out.
They also come in nifty boxes, and I'm a sucker for nifty boxes. The pedals smell like poo when you open them up though. It's almost frightening what they look like inside too, it's like a bad horror movie but with snot instead of blood. I need to take some pictures for this thread.

Clever!
I wonder what they use for boosts. Transformer, I'd imagine.
Neat boxes are totally FTW, too.

i'm sorry but i can't get down with these at all...
passive fuzz?? please. play that against an active fuzz pedal that actually boosts you signal and clips the shit out of it... no contest.
i could see using some passive tone controls or even some light passive clipping, but with any of those pedals you're going to have some volume and/or high end loss so why bother, really? you're going to be playing it out of a powered amp anyways!
more power to you if you dig em though!

The dude is currently working on a power-less LED indicator system. If you don't think this is Phase One of world domination then well we won't be on the same team for WWIII.

Not quite world domination... more like cheap garden lights.
I don't see how passive LEDs would work, though. They require more voltage than most pickups put out to even work.

I've thought about making a little passive clipping box with a bypass switch and a switch to change through various diode set-ups
fail for me

I have a couple buddies who swear by them...doesn't do a whole lot for me, but of the 25 or so bass players I know IRL, I'm pretty much the only one who is heavily into effects.
Here is one of the demos my friend did.

squarewave parade made some cool passive boxes too. i got the waveshaper which like clips one side of your wave depending how u have the knob set.
it added a cool subtle grime element to the sound but unfortunately it started making a weird humming sound all a sudden and now i dont use it anymore
the volume drop was actually welcomed when i plugged it into my synth and other pedals... it was tending to get super loud on me.

Photographic evidence! It's a neat little pedal, a fun little toy. The majority of my basses are passive, now I have passive dirt, bring on the passive amps!
