So, I got this Black Russian from a friend in a generally sorry state... aborted 3PDT install, missing feet and knobs, generally squirrelly wiring typical of the Sovteks. After a couple emails with Nick (nbabmf), I knew he was the right man to take on the task of rehabilitating the ol' girl and turning out the beast within.

Dude did not disappoint. Cleaned up with all new (old!) guts - I will let the man himself drop knowledge on the specifics - not to mention true bypassed, a switchable tone stack, standard power tap and new pots and jacks. This ain't yo momma's Muff!



Check out dem knobs! They hint at what this Muff is all about... our guiding principle for this project was "heft, but no fizz" and man, does this baby deliver in spades! My demo does not really do it justice, but gives a good idea of the awesome range this pedal is capable of. The Sustain and Tone controls are usable throughout their full sweep, and the tone stack switch makes this the most versatile Muff I own.

Yeah man, you should start getting excited right about yesterday! This thing brings the noise... it does not get sludgy or nasally at the extremes, and has incredible clarity even with the sustain cranked.

I have one of those sitting here not getting used just begging to be modded.

No doubt... I really this thing! It slays at everything from nice rumbly distortion to all-out fuzzy bliss. Could not be happier, and to anyone else considering getting your Muff souped-up... do not delay. Dude does exceptional work.

Obviously a rehouse, with a Flat mids switch, and a germanium diode swap. I told nbabmf I wanted to sound like T Rex if T Rex used a big muff, I have faith he's making that happen after hearing this one!
