Please help me so I don't get screwed by paypal

Hi fellow ILFers, I need your help.

I sold a Malekko E600D on TGP recently, the guy paid me with paypal and I sent the package a couple days later.
From that point the buyer started to be agressive and suspicious with me (maybe because of something that is in the air at TGP right now against foreign dealings) like I was going to screw him. I sent him the tracking number by email, translating him what the french post website said about his package but he didn't believe me. Like when the tracking info was
"your package is at the export center ready to leave the country of origin" he yelled at me that I hadn't send the package yet and that this was no reliable info.
I tried to explain him that the export center was at the airport and that the package had took a couple of days to reach it but still he started saying things like he didn't trust me and that he won't be out of his money blabla...

Now that's where it becomes serious : the tracking number says the package arrived on the 29 but he says he didn't receive it. French post and USPS both say it was delivered. Now he's waiting for me to find a solution.

What can I do to protect myself? I seriously doubt him...

thanks!

did you not send it with signature confirmation?
the tracking information should be enough to cover you from Paypal. he might be trying to squeeze a quick buck out of you if he thinks that Paypal isn't going to believe the French tracking system either. stalk this TGPer's posts and see if he seems legit i guess.

I did send it with signature confirmation, but I don't think paypal will have a record of his signature to compare it to the scan USPS may send me...
Already stalked his post...not much to see.
Thanks for your help!

PayPal doesn't give a shit about non-eBay dealings. If you show PayPal the shipping and delivery confirmation with tracking number, etc., they'll settle in your favor.

The more I hear about TGPers and their entitlement complexes...

You did nothing wrong on your part. Like stated previously, as long as you shipped with Signature Confirmation, and have proof of delivery, he really has no leg to stand on with a PayPal dispute.

Just wait it out, and ignore him. He sounds pretty shady.

You have confirmation that it was deliverd - so the burden of proof is on the buyer. If he opens a paypal dispute, just send them the tracking info from both postal services. It should be settled in your favor without much fuss :thumb:

If it was stolen from the mail, it's a federal crime. Tell him to contact the FBI.

If you haven't already, enter the tracking info on paypal next to the transaction...may move things a long a bit quicker.
Otherwise, agreed with the others.

^This (all of it).
You sent with tracking and sig confirmation, you're good regardless of what happens at the other end.

It's strange, but the first time I heard about TGP was on this forum..

But I also know I would probably not like it there, though I've never visited that site as far as I know..

Dev, that's like the 4th lul you've given me today.

But you're fine. All you need is proof that you shipped it to his address and you win. :thumb:

They have the best spam forum around...though you have to pay if you want to post ads, the fees paid for itself after my first sale there.
Seriously, my shit always sells there within minutes.

...as for the forum itself :whateva:

I would say tell him to eph off since the delivery said it's there, however, I just went through a very long ordeal where it was "delivered" and it wasn't and then went to retrieve it from the post office and it wasn't there even though the computer said it was. Weeks later....almost a month later it was found and sent back to the sender.

Email the post office it should have arrived at and let them know what's going on. If they received and shipped the package they will have it in the system. It's out of your hands and in his at that point. Guy sounds really sketchy to begin with. Bugging and immediately freaking out...kinda foreshadows the whole ordeal.

Keep your email exchange and possibly offer to refund him if your pedal returns to you.

This guy sounds like a total fucking asshole..... I suggest you send him a strongly worded PM telling him this in no uncertain terms......

If you can get the signature from USPS, you're home free. Paypal will close the case in your favor, and if he tries to firebomb you on TGP, you have everything you need to defend yourself.
