Neck Heavy Guitar

I've had my Epiphone Wilshire for a couple months now and its neck heavy and I'm really getting pissed off at it. When I let go of it the neck goes parallel with the ground. I tried getting a grippier but it still goes down an inch or so and I have to keep holding it up. The strap also pulls my shirt down making it uncomfortable to play. Any suggestions?

You can move the strap pins to a place where the guitar feels more balanced. I find most Gibson and Epiphone guitars feel neck heavy to me, which is why I've never owned one.

You could reposition the strap button, as many do with SG's.

Take the strap off of the guitar and hold it up under the pins with your fingers. Then kinda move your hands around and try to determine where it feels the most balanced. Once you find a point where it feels good, you can try taping the strap there and putting it on to see how it sits. If you still like the position, take a small drill and put in some pilot holes. Then install the new screws. You can fill the old ones with toothpicks and glue or wood filler.

I don't quite understand what your saying, when I move it a round with my hands the most balanced spot is going to be level with the floor, which really doesn't help at all.

Step 1: Go to a tackle shop
Step 2: Buy a large lead weight
Step 3: Attach lead weight to the strap button

having owned a few neck heavy guitars, and currently have a BCR Ironbird (shocking for neckdive) try putting a strap button on the upper neck bolt or about where the middle of the neck plate would be if its not a bolt on.

Tie a brick to the bottom guitar strap?
Seriously, though. I don't know how to explain it better than the way I already did but if you try a number of different places on your guitar, you'll find a place with better balance OR just learn to live with it. Then again, you could sell it and get a different guitar. Most Gibson-related guitars are like this (it's a problem for some, others don't mind it at all), with the notable exception of the Les Paul, which is just heavy all over.

if moving the strap buttons doesn't help, what about trying to put a few pieces of lead to the electronics cavity? In a sack, of course
