Fender Cyclone II

A local dealer who operates out of his house I frequently get gear from, tons of vintage amps and guitars. Was over there today and he just got in a Fender Cyclone II in candy apple red. I think the guitar sounds great, but I can't find out too much online about how much they typically sell for. He wants $650 and I feel like that's a bit steep, however he's giving me $300 trade on a mexi strat thats 15 years old.

Anyone know what these typically go for?

Thanks

$400-500 is more reasonable imo, but they are discontinued/*somewhat* rare so it's not completely crazy, especially if it's in nice/mint condition

I want one

It's not mint, but it isn't beat, few dings. He has the upper hand though b/c in Philly there's the biggest east coast guitar show coming up next weekend, and he can sell it there for $650 in a heartbeat.

Side note: any other ILFers going to the guitar show?

Buy one on ebay for cheaper?

There's a regular cyclone on there for $500 shipped. :thumb:

This one guy wants $750 for his fender Cyclone II, $650 isn't bad but I think you could get it from him for less, $450 astleast.

That's fairly pricey man.
Unless you LOVE it, I'd wait for a better deal.
Also, from my experiences, some of the older made mexican strats are pretty killer. :idk:
I wouldn't rush into this or anything.

Thanks for the replys.
I was able to bring him down some, so I ended up getting it with a trade value of $350 for my 98 mexi strat + 150. I love the guitar, but I'm prolly gonna put some more money into it with novak pups. I like the scale length, it's not a big differnce from my JM, mustangs are Substantially smaller.

A Cyclone II with jagtremz seems like what the Jag-Stang should have been.

Sounds like you got a good deal!

My toronado is my favorite guitar, these are pretty similar.
I've been hunting for another toronado but people keep doing stupid shit to them (found one with a hideous roland synth thingy attached, and there is one on ebay now "signed by the deftones")

Maybe I should just get a cyclone

I only have a phone camera. Wiki says they were made with American Fender made vintage spec'd but I want to make this into an interesting project. Trying to contact Novak about doing some pickups for it (should be able to replace with jaguar replacement pickups even though they're slanted a bit like a tele bridge).

I think $500 on a Cyclone II is bullseye price.
All things considered, by the time you get tired of it, there's a good chance you'll be able to sell it for quite a bit more than that.

That is IF you tire of it.
The only thing that has kept me from buying another one of these is that I keep running into Daphne Blue ones and I don't want two identical guitars.
