I want one too, but I saw a guy that is busy designing a multi-voiced mono-tron like thing diy, so if he's ready and sharing it, I think I will build that first.. :joy:

I played around with one at the local guitar store for a while last Saturday. I was thorougly underwhelmed. I didn't find it to be very musical. It seemed like a child's toy rather than an instrument. I don't even know if I would pay $9.95 let alone $60 for this. I think you would be far better off putting the $60 towards buy an Ipod Touch and buying some of the inexpensive and far more flexible apps (like Korgs own iElectribe) available for it. YMMV.

FWIW I liked the Kaossilator when I tried it out. It seemed to have many more possibilities.

(Full Disclosure - I've got a Monomachine and an Evolver so it might be tough for me to be excited by this device.)

As an instrument, it is pretty limited. It does one thing... does it really well, but you are not going to use it on more than a track or two tops without getting really, really sick of that one sound.

As an effect, though... You are getting a full, real, analogue filter from the Korg MS for under 60 bones. That is dang near unbeatable.

I love mine. Most of my sound comes from my effects but it acts as a nice filthy sounding oscillator to slam the front end. Highly recommended. Could be a little cheaper though, but still feels quite solid.

That video is awesome, i might have to get one, although i think it would have limited use in my musical world, it probably end up like my Electro Faustus theremin, sitting on my dresser in teh box it came in almost 24/7, but awesome none the less.

I've yet to actually see a Monotron in a store. When I do, I'll be quite surprised if I don't walk out with it. For that price, even if it ends up being a toy I don't think it would be a bad buy.

Evolver is tough to compete with  but hey - it's a real synth that You can use as a primary instrument. Had it in the band and loved it, too bad my band mate sold it.

I think I'd like Monotron accompany the Rot Yr Brain and run them through tons of effects. :animal: Then there's the Electro Faustus 101 and the 4MS Autobass...
