Why the fuck are chorus pedals so expensive to build?

Roktek were cheap 80's effects in shitty plastic housing. But the circuit was HAWT,analog/BBD yumminess. There's a d00d on ebay selling them right now for 67.00 bucks. I would like one built, but housed in an MXR sized enclosure of the metallic variety. If there is a way to install some sort of weird oscillatory function, then I'd like to do that. I could just buy the Roktek, but I'd rather have my money sent to an ILFer adventurous enopugh for such an undertaking. PM me

EDIT: NVRMND

Here's a schematic:
http://www.freeinfosociety.com/electron ... hp?id=2319I don't have time to make the PCB, but if anyone wanted to do that part, I'd be down to build it.

The Roktek almost certainly *has* to be a clone of some other existing chorus. I just compared it to a CE-2 schem, but it's not a match.
But there is probably already an existing PCB for whatever the Roktek is a clone of. And if it's not a clone, I'll be happy to try to make a layout for it.

It looks a lot like the Small Clone.

Yeah,so I mentioned I'm gonna pay someone to do this, right? Can this be done for under 67.00? I'm a cheap dick

Uh... GOOD LUCK!
I wouldn't do it for $67. That probably wouldn't even cover the cost of parts.

Not really.
I did score a full BYOC chorus kit on TGP for $55 about 6 months ago. That was awesome.

You could also buy a Small Clone and have someone mod it down the road.

Would the big box version be easier to mod than the new and downsized Neo Clone(not to be confused with Nano)?

high parts count, expensive bbd chips. I guess if you are mass producing them you can do it cheaper, but for a one off it's expensive to do. I think the chorus I built was $80 in parts alone, maybe if I made a bunch it could be cheaper.

Yep. I think in bulk they may be cheaper but sure as hell not one offs.
Get a used big box small clone, easily the cheapest way and you'll have the real thing.
