Anyone fans of them here? I know there's quite a number of bass players on here. I've seen them several times, don't listen to their records too often (even though they're great, just not the type of music I listen to on a regular basis), but live their shows are just outstanding.

From a show I was at. But you don't know what I look like so you cant find me like Waldo...

I really need to check out some Lightning Bolt again. One of my exes had one of their albums, I remember liking it, but it's been years since I've heard any.

LB are titz for srs. Definitely one of the bands to see before you die.
They played in Toronto a few weeks ago with Dan Deacon, which would have been sick if it weren't 19+.

Ah...yea I discovered this band while reading my back-issues of Bass Player magazine..saw a review of one of their albums.
I've never heard them, but I've been trying to track down one of their albums..maybe I'll check Amazon..
The article contained an interesting metaphor used to describe the bass player's distorted tone, but I can't remember what it was now...

I'm amazed that B. Gibson doesn't use a pick.

My favorite live show by far. They bring the energy and I don't know how. It's wild to see what happens at their shows. The bass is soo loud and the drums are so fast, you have to move.

I love Lightning Bolt but have never seen them play, my band kind takes some cues from them but we are more improvisational and we have a guitar player instead of a banjo string.
Great 'tar BTW,....Hextall was the man. This young goaltender; Bobs, they've got currently is really impressing me.
/thread derail.

Brian is doing some fantastic things on the bass.
For one he his using banjo strings which he tunes in standard chello tuning.
On the last album he switched to a 5 string bass and it really opened his sound.
Captain Caveman is one of my favorite songs by them. I could listen to it for days.

I listened them and liked them because some guy of Mogwai tipped them as the new Britney Spears! Love them!
Favourite song for me is the rather catchy:
