Just picked up an Algal Bloom via trade. WOW. I was hoping that it would cover some of the same ground of the Soda Meiser side of the Rocket that I traded out earlier. I wasn't expecting the Algal Bloom to sound So. Much. Better. It can cop the same kind of massive low end, but with a fidelity that the Rocket just couldn't match. It sounds so good that I'm actually going to take my 2 skreddys (a Mayo and a Zero) off the board for my next few gigs and just use the Bloom for fuzz.

With the germanium choke toggle and the starve control, I can cop all the splatty, synthy tones that I was previously using the Rocket and the Hyperion for, as well. That hyperion is definitely on B/S/T by the way...

IS THERE ANYTHING THIS PEDAL CAN'T DO?

Ha... I actually posted a little "review" of my new Algal Bloom the other day, then took it down because I was slightly embarrassed. It was a lot of gushing.

BUT I'm surprised/happy to see that you mention the Soda Meiser... I had mentioned that as well in my review (which is part of the reason I was slightly embarrassed). I must say, though, that you're right... I think the Soda Meiser is a sweet pedal, and I always wanted to use it for a main fuzz, but it's only good for like two strings. You get your Algal Bloom set just right, put that ass on the neck pickup, and you have some of the low end and buzzyness of the Soda Meiser, but you get worlds and worlds of tone and full thick chords beyond that. And if you really bonk your strings, you get a kind of harsh fuzzy growl that works so sweetly with your dynamics.

No, there is nothing the Algal Bloom can't do except for suck.

I've had mine less than a week and it's already taken over as my main fuzz.

p.s. I still have my Soda Meiser, but just for some lead stuff on another board of mine. My AB actually replaced my Rat. (in the band in my sig!)

yeah, its kinda impossible to NOt gush about the Algal Bloom

Played my first gig with the Bloom last night. That pedal is undestopable!

Threads like this make me happy beyond words! The Algal Bloom has been buzzing lately! And it's thanks to word of mouth!!! (* s everyone *)

2nd gig with the Bloom was last night. Without thinking I arranged the setlist so that the entire middle section were songs that used it... fuck yeah. this pedal is the shit. another gig tonight...

also, I forgot to mention, I'm playing fender teles with tele-sized humbuckers into a vox AC15. explosive combo. i'll see if I can't get some video tonight.

Thanks to Bobby DeVito, I managed to get my friend to buy a custom Algal Bloom.
I was having one designed and he liked it so much he wanted one!
They're being built right now, but he keeps talking about how excited he is now.
It's so bad I can't get a word in... about how excited I am.
I hope it's as good as you guys are saying!

I played my first Algal Bloom show the other night and it was sooooooo nice. I feel so confident every time I put my foot down on that ass.

I made it suck my titties and then I realized I didn't have titties so the Algal Bloom GREW TITTIES ON ME and then sucked them and I was like yeah.
