Got some blues (both Delta, and/or "rockin") suggestions?

So every year I end up making CD mixes for my sister & father for the holidaze. This year, my father had two requests: one disc of new Delta blues acts, and one of post-Duane Allman "rock / southern rock / blues" acts.
I will be hitting up Teh Google and Teh Amazon and Teh iTunes, but wanted to see if anyone here had suggestions for good new acts to feature. Devnulljp - you've got JLH as your avatar, you must have a suggestion! (I hope!)

Howlin' Wolf. Not new, but unbelievably awesome. Your dad probably likes him already, but if not get the Chess 50th Anniversary collection. Spooky and heavy. I wish the Wolf was my dad.

Not very american but:
Rory Gallagher
A bit biased due to the fact that despite my love of all things fuzz, experimental, progressive etc. he is one of my favourite musicians ever.
Has done most any blues style. Delta to Bluesrock and back via a little bit of jazz.
Otherwise maybe Nine Below Zero or The Blues Brothers might be cool due to the large amount of covers and therefore a large variety in blues tunes.

Nice! Thanks for the suggestions - he's definitely got plenty of Howlin' Wolf and the better-known classics. I think that Rory Gallagher and Nine Below Zero would be new to him though - just picked up a couple of tracks from each. Definitely welcoming more ideas...

Ive been listening to Charlie Patton and Blind Willie McTell quite a bit lately. Def some good delta blues but they're pretty famous so your prob already heard of them. Especially Blind Willie McTell, he was amhuge influence on jack white.

YOU GUYS ARE ALL AWESOME!!!!
Elwood - definitely the most hits that my pop won't know: I shall indeed be picking up some of each.
BCBC - good one on Susan Tedeschi. She's local to these here parts, isn't she?
Gearmond - I loves me some Morphine. Will definitely check out Birds of Maya. And Black Keys: hell yeah!
Muddeh - all excellent choices, my friend, but unfortunately within my father's record collection (though I don't know about that particular ZZ Top tune - that might be left field enough for him).
Keep 'em comin' if you got 'em!

Yup, she's from Boston. She's from the same family that owns Tedeschi's foodstores.
I just really dig her voice; when she starts screaming, she's got a bit of Joplin in her, but her singing voice can get really sweet too.
