Anyone played with one of these? I'm assuming that even if the tracking was even slightly off it's definately going to track better than my Octave Multiplexer, but mostly what I wanna know is how well this will track vocals? anyone plugged a mic in it, or into the MicroPOG.

I have heard good things about the pog2, its sold / traded just as frequently as any other EHX pedal so that means a good amount of people are actually keeping it.

If you looking to use it for vocal processing you might want to check out the V256 Vocorder, which has an XLR output and should do the same things that the POG2 would do.

Other than that its solid, I simply refuse to play one because I know I will walk out of the store with it.

I'll be using it for bass/guitar as well as vox and noise bullshit, i just know i'll end up throwing a mic through it on occasion so was just checking if anyone had any experience of doing so. but I can't imagine it'll be any less fun than putting a mic though the Octave Multiplexer but with the happy addition of an LED.

As for its tracking, it should be fine for vocals. The POGs and HOG don't actually track anything. They sample and then pitch-shift, so it should be flawless. The only thing you may get is a bit of chirpiness on the higher octaves because it also samples any extraneous noise (like fret or string buzz, and pick noise) in the signal, and maybe a barely perceptible lag (a few 10's of ms at most)

I do indeed have one, and use it all the time on bass, when I need to play some SMOKIN' HOT GITAR LEEDS!!!!1 (there's no 6-stringer in my band)

It tracks wonderfully, and while it does have a bit of "digital sheen," (and yes, definitely those odd chirps and other pitch-shifty artifacts) I personally don't mind. I've tried a number of pitch shifting fx, and the POG is the only one that's really worked for me.

I haven't had a ton of luck with it on vox (I've tried), but I'm not sure if that's an issue with levels, or what. It sort of gets the "shape" of the words without actually being comprehensible. Kinda weird, but good for adding atmosphere (though sometimes the vocal frequencies it targets get pretty piercing when shifted up). If you really want to pitch shift vocals in a coherent manner, there are specific boxes that would be better - the EHX Voice Box comes to mind, and there's a discontinued Boss unit specifically for vocals (it also has some funny default patches, like a "robo-voice").

I don't have the POG2, but I did have a microPog and it sounded great on vox. As glitch-free as could be. The Ring Thing had similar qualities, both positive and negative.

Yeah, the EHX Voice Box works like a charm. And has sweet vocoding goodness.
