Can these parts be used for anything...

I was going through and sorting shit and realized I have a ton of ECG4029B 16-Pin ICs and ECG931 things...i dont even know what they are. They are huge metal can type things with 2 legs.

I have a few other things to ask about when I'm done sorting, but would like to know if any of our skilled DIYers know of any uses for them.

I saw a site where you can select your components you have laying around and they search in there database for a circuit that would be best fitted with your spare parts.. It was not finished when I saw it.. But I forgot which site it was :picard:

I can't find a data sheet for the 16-pin IC, but the ECG931 is a high-voltage, high-current 5v voltage regulator. You could use it in various delay projects that require the delay chips to supplied with 5v. But the case size is so large that there's no way they will fit on a PCB made for effects. Maybe a perfboard build.

I'm betting it's the same as a CD4029B, which is a cmos binary counter.

Google for uses. Add "stompbox" to the search for pedal specific stuff.

I wish I'd seen this thread earlier! The electronics shop I go to has an ECG book with cross-references to common part numbers.

Ha.

Well my stepdad is an elevator mechanic, along with a lot of my family.
They always bring me boxes of random electronics and circuits I like trying to turn into pedals...

Theres a good chance that I will have more shit to ask about...always a lot of oddball parts.
There were some weird germanium diodes in there that were broken.

I'll have a look on my old desktop tomorrow to see if I bookmarked it..

i had the same idea except mine was to find something to make for dinner. i would enter all the crap in my fridge and it would give me a recipe.

That's also already programmed on some site, but where :idk:

those 5v regulators are super useful for analog synthesizers. all the digital displays, midi interfaces, DSP chips, DAC's, ADC's all use 5v power. go check out muffwiggler forum and see if they want em. they have a 50 post min for sellers so I dunno. you could PM sandy or muff for an exception. I'm sure it would be okay to sell something for $2
