Compressor Pedal

I recently replaced my amp, and I'm noticing more feedback than I had before. I've been doing some research on a compressor pedal to put at the beginning of my chain to clear this up. I've taken a liking to the Philosopher's tone. I was wondering if anyone has experience with this pedal or any other that they couldn't live without. THanks

*Edit* Would like to keep it to under 250

Don't compressors usually add noise? That's been my experience at least
Is the amp extra noisy with pedals in the chain or just guitar>amp?

Yes, they can at times. If you look at what they actually do it makes sense.

I don't want to suppress the noise, I want more control over the feedback, which is when my pedals are active. Compressors can add noise, however, they can offer control over how much or little you want.

Well it depends on if you mind the compressore coloring your tone. From what I've hear the philosphers tone colors your tone a bit. If you want transparent you can never go wrong with a keely compressor. I'm personally waiting for the cheaper mad professor forrest green compressor to come out.
