this 5 knob ab-synth has my full attention, could you please elaborate on what that extra knob does.

Compared to the standard AB-Synth (which is always in the higher gain territory), the 5th knob allows you to reduce gain and clean things up. You can clean it up a little or a lot, all the way to having some subtle pop-in tones.
On the oscillation side, it allows further tweaking of the oscillation, and lets you to gate out the oscillation a bit.
The fifth knob means more tweaking...so while there's more on board, there's more to adjust--good for some, not for others. (Personally, I use a 4-knob AB-Synth for ease-of-use...but a lot of users have said the 5th knob takes things to the next level. )
