So lately I've noticed a lot of chatter revolving around murdering Dr. Scientist on various forums.
"Does the wet reverb/blue sky kill the RRR? Is the new EQD sea machine the cosmichorus killer?"
...and I just wanted to say it's awesome that Dr. Scientist pedals are held in such high regard as to be the one to "kill"

I don't think any of those pedals (especially concerning the Cosmi & the SeaMac), are going to be killers so to say. Just another on par option. I would already own a cosmi if it had slapback, the seamac does...so I'm going for the latter. I look at both of them as modern day polychorus's and, well

.
But yes, looks like they're are coming for you Doc. Good thing you set the bar nice and high

.

I've got a feeling that the Sea Machine and the Cosmichorus are gonna be two different choruses that can't really be compared to each other.
Meanwhile, I've got a miniberator for my reverb and I could not be happier with it.

I could see that, while at the same time retaining what we all love about them
Oh yea, the RRR/min/etc is one of the only reverbs I'd consider buying.

Well, if a pedal is called as killing competition it obviously means the pedal really rules, so it will not be bad publicity

And people will always have different tastes so thank karma people don't have exactly the same pedalboard

I just want it on the record that I am not in favor of killing Dr. Scientist.

Haha, thanks Jon! *big hugs*
Well I'm a firm believer that the successes of our peers benefits us all and it's an honour to be compared among really great pedals. This kind of thing is normal and Toonster's right, it's nice to even be mentioned.
And it's true, there's room for all of us to do our thing and I think all of us designers have different goals or visions with our pedals and it really separates our offerings. I think the Strymon gear is top notch and Jamie's new chorus pedal looks absolutely killer, I'd love those pedals too!
These great offerings drive us all to be our best too, to make our pedals top notch and then some, and that's just good for everybody!

Thanks Compy, it feels really good to be avenged!

i dunno...
dr. scientist is pretty hard to kill...
i mean, no other brand of pedals have appealed to me more. imo, no one can even compete with their finishes alone...
and i'm pretty sure that as long as ilf lives, so will the dr.

I killed Dr.Scientist Once by striking him down... but he came back more powerful than I could possibly imagine...
He had a stick with a nail in it!
Oh and the new line of 125B Dr.Scientist pedals will take alot to beat in my opinion, Stereo pedals in a small package, No damn 3PDTs to break with the new switching system (let alone no switch click) Rise functions on a few I presume (and that is just damn cool, haven't seen that done since the VB-2 itself) all the options you could want out of the specific pedals and some funky artwork and PCB Silk screening to go with it.
And being the EQD is digital using the PT2399 chip and the CC is analog with the 3007, I imagine they will be very different beasts indeed and no killing shall be required.

Haha, Pete, you and I must have been on a wavelength the last couple days.. I watched A New Hope the other night! It influenced my forum subtitle too.
I hope the finishes aren't the only thing that separates us from the competition.. we're really trying to phase out the vinyl finishes as it's just an impossible way to work for very long. I think down the road they'll be a custom only option that we do only a couple dozen of a month.
But hey.. the pedals are still gonna sound cool! *smile*

my Dr.S pedals have killed lots of others.
Chosmichorus killed my polychorus, choralflange and my dejaVibe
RRR killed my Ghost Echo and Spring Chicken
Cleaness killed my SCPicoso and Tim
i wish i had a Dr.S Phase and Flange to kill off those modulation pedals as well.
