Indoor / outdoor carpeting for pedal board?

A while back, I purchased a cheapo Rondo pedalboard. It worked perfectly for quite a while, until the velcro-friendly lining pulled up. I had to tear it out completely, because it had lost that much of a grip. Fast forward to many months to this week, when the band has our first gigs in a while. I went out and bought a big roll of industrial velcro... only to find out the hard way that there's way too little included to cover my case.
So today I went off to Home Despot with a swatch of velcro to see what stuck. In terms of price, cutability and backing, their indoor/outdoor carpeting seemed to give the best bang for the buck. So I got a bunch, in dark green. Also bought a can of Super 90 adhesive. Going to try Frankensteining this together while my kid naps (assuming he naps). I really hope this works.
Anyone else have experience using carpeting for their pedalboard?

I used indoor/outdoor carpeting when I made my first board.
As long as its a pretty fine carpetting it will work great and it holds up quite well.

Well, we shall see how this works. I applied the carpeting with Super 90 spray adhesive, and realized ten minutes later that I hadn't followed the directions on the adhesive properly. I was supposed to apply it to both surfaces - being a moron, I only applied it to the carpeting. Oops.
In the spirit of just getting through the week, I'm not gonna worry about it - it's down, it's curing with a bunch of heavy books on top, and with any luck, it will work for the time being.
I think it looks pretty cool, though.

- Hey - I like a lot of room around my pedal, o.k.?!?
And for closeup:

- Grooooooove-y. Get it? HA!
Hopefully the grooves won't cause any problems. I put the Rat on and shook the whole thing a bit, and it didn't even move. Not the heaviest pedal I've got, but it does have some of the shoddiest velcro, so fingers crossed that if it can hang on, the rest can too.

That's the same carpet that I used, except mine was gray.
It'll hold up for sure and the grooves never gave me a problem.
Your glue on the other hand

Contact cement needs to bind with itself for a proper hold.

Cool on the carpet! Yeah, I tried it in the store, too, so I've got a good feeling about it.
As for the adhesive, yeah - we'll see how that works. The good news is that they sell it in 12 foot strips, so I have more than enough left over if I have to redo the board!

Well, when it's just the Turbo Rat on there, sure...
... actually, when the whole thing's on there, there's still plenty of room. I like to spread out.
