Wife was out last night and after I got my 7 month old daughter to bed, I decided to record a clip of my fuzz pedals. I'd been wanting to record a clip of the fuzzes I currently have in order to see which I like best between the Algal Bloom, MJM Brit Bender and Subdecay F-Bomb.

Personally I liked the he Algal Bloom and the MJM Brit Bender both for the type of stuff you were playing.

the algal bloom was my favorite but they all sound pretty good.

Thanks for posting that. I think I've watched every Algal Bloom video on the internet (still no germanium choke toggle video though!).

I liked the AB the best as well, AND I'M NOT JUST SAYING THAT. It has a unique solo sound compared to the other two... I didn't think much of the F-Bomb, nothin' special. The MJM was a bit better... pretty good classic fuzz sounds. Seems to me, though, like the Algal Bloom has a weird fuzz/distortion/overdrive sound to it all at the same time. Like it seems super-sensitive to how you're playing, whereas the other two just kind of give you the sound and that's about it.

Looking forward to my Algal Bloom!

I've watched this a few times myself now and I have to say, my favorite is the Algal Bloom. I'm not just saying that because this is the Fuzzhugger forum either. The controls (especially the pre gain knob) just make it so versatile. I think the "loser" in my opinion of these goes to the Brit Bender. I like the F-Bomb better than the Brit Bender...seems it can do similar tones and costs much less.

I prefer the Algal Bloom, it just sounds fuller.

yep, the others were just sorta like more run of the mill fuzz sounds, so i had the video running in another tab.

then it was like "OH! that is a fuzz pedal right there!" bam. algal bloom bein' all thick and juicy up in my speakers.
