Anyone have to run any of their gear through one? I just bought an old Yamaha PS-20(synth) from Spain not even thinking about this. Now I'm wondering the best way of getting this bad boy to power up. There's also a 9v DC jack.... maybe I could do something with that?

9V DC is good news, i guess all you need is an AC to DC adapter
just like a normal one we use for pedals
DO check the polarity tho...

some things are multi voltage if not u need to hunt a step down for it
like when i used to have a memory man i had to carry a step down for it the same size as it just to use it

So there is an AC adapter built into the bottom of the keyboard that reads input: 220v 50Hz 15W output:9v 600mA. That's the part that has the euro style power plug attached. I really am clueless when it comes to stuff like this but does that sound like one of those little EU to US travel adapters might work? As for the 9V jack it reads DC 9V SUM 1, "D" Size , R-20 or Equiv. and next to the jack itself it says DC 9V IN with this symbol(minus the circles around the positive and negative)



I don't want to put a Boss adapter in there until I'm sure whether or not it's the right thing.

Sorry again to bother, and thanks for all the help. I'm a totally noob at this stuff. Should've paid more attention in my high school electronics class. It's a wonder my strobe light ever worked.

Yeah, It's kind of strange. It's a removable AC adapter built into the bottom of the keyboard. Here are a few pics.

u could use the 9v dc input insted and find a suitable adaptor but even then youd still need a stepdown

the old moog synths needed the constant stable power generator thingos theyd drop in and out of pitch when u held a note
not sure if there still like that these days though

ummmm.... i might be wrong...

if you run the AC, yes, you will need a stepdown to run that AC power adapter thingy.
if you are using the DC jack (just like we all do for our pedals globally), you need a 9VDC output - Center positive - AC to DC adapter which its polarity is opposite to our normal boss type adapter.

this will work for your AC power thingy or any other gear that runs on 220V.

i have never seen a step down/up converter looks like that.
perhaps this one will help firing a synth, maybe a PS-20?



something like this one should work with the DC jack

save you from carrying a step down transformer.

Alright, problem solved. Apparently there is a simple solution to this problem. Went into my local Radioshack( ) after work today and found this bad boy.

40 bucks, but it gets the job done quick and simple and can handle up to 40w. I'm assuming it's basically the step down transformer you guys were talking about, just in a much smaller enclosure. Makes me feel a little more at ease with buying from Europe now. Thank you so much tough for the help everyone. I can't tell you how bummed I was waiting almost a month for the synth to arrive and then not being able to use it(like dangling a carrot infront of a donkey) And I never would've even thought to look for something like this if it wasn't for you guys.
