Looks sick. I bet it sounds sweet, too.

What do ya'll know about it?

Everything I know about it comes from wikipedia (it has its own page!): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gibson_L6-S

One popped up on craigslist around here once as well, it looks like a neat guitar...

I know Santana endorsed it, it does tons of different pickup options, and I want one.

It's overpriced for one thing.
Norlin did a lot of weird and wonderful models in the 70s.
It does have a weird and kinda cool pickup selector -- they were all the rage back then, a million options. There were bolt on and set neck versions I think...
Lots of info here: http://www.billlawrence.com/Pages/L6S.htm

Santana and Al Di Meola were endorsers, but Malcolm Young actually used one.

Ridiculous price on that. A local shop near me had one for $550 in better condition than that, and it sat there for months. Same color and everything. It wasn't a case queen, but I doubt it had been gigged.

I played around on it, and thought it was garbage. The Squier Jagmaster and Squier '51 on either side of it played better. :idk:

I didn't plug it in, so I can't comment on the sound (it had non-stock pickups anyway), but just playing it there was no resonance - just dead wood. Felt cheap overall. Yeah, it was vintage, and had Gibson on the headstock, but it felt and played like an Epi LP Special.

If you try it and dig it, great, but that price is ridiculous. I've never seen one - even in great shape - for more than $700. They could have gained a lot of value in the past ~6 months since I've seen one, but that price still seems like way too much. :idk:
