New Stuff: I Am Out of Control!

Hi Fellow Fuzz Lovers,

While this may be a little on the tame side for some of you, I'm finding it to be an excellent fuzz for my needs:
Image

I got a screamin' deal on it. Has a hair trigger between 90% on the fuzz knob and 92%, but the buffer is a cool feature (changes the fuzz's tone a bit too) and responds super nice to volume knob adjustments. Especially with these that I recently picked up:

Special Jet, DeArmond 2000 pickups. Really gets "That Gretsch Sound"

And (also a screamin deal, not sure if I am keeping this, gonna try out at a gig this weekend) this:

Ibanez ARX320. Hot, hot HOT pickups, I have them screwed almost all the way down. Both play fantastic, awesome fretwork. On the Ib I may keep and try some more PAF-style pickups, time will tell. May be on the forum here soon, it was an impulse buy. The Gretsch I think is a keeper for sure. I went looking for a budget 2-P90 guitar and this is what followed me home. Needless to say the wife is not that happy, but I had a small windfall and you only live once.

Anyone else like the MXR Classic 108 Fuzz? Too white-bread for ILF? Thanks for looking!

Stock photo's added as my camera sux.

Man I've heard a *lot* of really good things about that MXR. I've wanted to check it out for quite some time.

Just got the same MXR fuzz. It's AWESOME. Really nice buffer, too.

I use it a lot for my leads and sometimes add in the whammy with a little octave up for some real rawk. Love it.

Thanks! Yup stays in the middle a lot. I like a big 'ol fuzz on the neck pickup though. Amp distortion on the bridge very good too. Great fretwork too...

Same here. I've never seen one in person though. It's one of those pedals that you hear everyone talk about for a while, then it disappears.

What kind of fuzz sound does it get? Fuzz Face-ish? BMP-ish?

Nice score! I loved that MXW fuzz... Try buffer on, vol cranked and fuzz at minimum. Crazy.

Fuzz Face. As I understand it it's the same Jorge Tripps build that's in the big round hendrix fuzz face, just in a smaller enclosure.

I forgot I had this clip: http://soundclick.com/share?songid=9522910 no MXR Fuzz (the 1st dirt is the Cool Cat, 2nd dirt is MXR M-66 Classic Overdrive, then last dirt is both stacked), but you get the idea how cool this Gretsch sounds.

I'll record a clip of the MXR Fuzz this weekend and post it.

p.s. If anyone want's to lift the chord changes / riff and ad to it be my guest. Actually I would love it!

Keep on Fuzzin'.....
