That's pretty much my ideal setup...macbook pro + logic + duet
...but the gamer in me keeps telling myself to build some massive water cooled behemoth tower pc

I feel the opposite.
I primarily run Macintosh machines, with the exception of my electronic CAD programs. There is minimal support for Mac. PC dominates this market.
Which is why I'm building a Linux machine.

i was talking about the sexyness of the design of the macbook haha aluminum unibody slick black and some funky lights, loverly
