Some bands just suck live. What bands have you seen live that fall into this category?

For me:

Badly Drawn Boy (what an arrogant son of a bitch!)
The Soundtrack of our Lives (not so much the band, but the sound crew...145 dB is painful!)
Jack Johnson (I think he was asleep the entire time)
Killers (not sure what I was expecting, but it was stale)
Strokes (not too bad, but felt robotic)

Julien K is pretty high up on the list, though... Most of them are "non-famous"/local bands...

The Pink Spiders got all famous and signed to Geffen... I don't know that I "hated" their early music, but I never thought they were as good as people made them out to be... given the hype they received (and how they sound now), they are fucking shit.

That's all that immediately jumps out at me...

In '04, Huntsville was fuuuulll of ultra-shitty Metalcore ad Scenester bands, so I understand... I can scarcely remember their names either.

Drag Down First is one of the few names I can recall... they were super-lame.

i think this was the same period year i recall as the upbringing of shit scene bands
some were like so out of tune or couldnt even keep time
and not even in a cool rock n roll way

Unfortunately, now there's not much happening at all here.

I saw REM on the Fables of the Reconstruction tour. They were all drunk/stoned. Michael Stipe kept wandering off to go do more of whatever had got him into that state in the first place, had a lie down on the stage, the bass player did most of the singing standing off to the side with a can of beer in his hand. Embarrassing.
I saw Black Sabbath with Ian Gillan and Bev Bevan
Metallica in Japan on the Black tour. But I can't stand them at the best of times so no surprise there.
Diamond Head near the end. They were great early on, but by the Canterbury tour they were done, and the one after that was horrible.
I was also actually dragged to a Genesis concert in the 80s. ABACAB, all that crap, Phil Collins at his Top of the Pops worst. (Not fair, they were actually very good at what they did -- it's just that what they did sucked donkey giblets).

Being in active bands for the past 15 years means I've seen countless terrible, ball-sucking bands. But I can only think of 3 off hand that anyone would recognize...

Modest Mouse (I've been a fan since I was 12. This was their "comeback" tour (Good News era). They ruined all of my favorite old songs. Even Johnny Marr couldn't polish this turd.)
Spoon (Saw them twice. Love their albums, but goddamn if I wasn't sleeping while standing up during both of their performances. Ruthlessly boring.)
The Strokes (Didn't give a shit about putting on an entertaining show and I have a strange suspicion that the sound guy didn't even show up.)
