Kustom/Affordable tube combos

I've been trying to get rid of my Sovtek Mig-50 for awhile. Love the beast to death, but tired of the half-stack life. Been looking into new combos of equal volume. Learned a thing or two when my band mate played a 410 deville and blue me out the water and could fit it easily in his backseat. Of course, I want a twin, but after selling the half stack, I'll be real short and need an alternative immediately. I gig a lot.

Wanted specs:
Tube
Preferably single-channel master volume
At least 50 watts
Ext. Speaker jack
Under 600 USD

Looking for new sounds constantly and I stumbled upon the Kustom site. They seem to have some cool stuff going on, but I'm curious as to how they sound and compare. The Defender is in my range, and I like what I read but haven't played the thing, nor can I. Any experience?

Then this is outta range, but MMMMM girl!

No clue about the Defender. But you can usually find a Peavey Triumph PAG 60 on eBay for about $250. Fuckin awesome amp. To this day I'm still happy to play it. Ugly as shit though.

It's got really great cleans, and a fantastic crunch/ ultra channels. I'm telling you, there's none better for the money. Mines a 1x12 with a V30. And it thumps for a 1x12. I need to retube mine. And old PVs are built like brick shit houses.

Kustom tuck and rolls are fucking beautiful.

That said, troll craigslist...
Twin reverbs pop up every once in a while for $500... I'm picking up a Laney VC30 for like $200 tomorrow. :omg:

yeah, but i think it helps to live in a major metropolitan area on that one.... manhattan craigslist is a treasure trove of fun, new haven craigslist is weirdo's who want to be your friend but don't want to sell for less than cost but won't pay more than 1/3.....

I'll give the CT craigslist scene some credit. I got my AVRI JM off the New Haven craigslist for the price of a MIJ...the guy even drove it down to Manhattan

The Manhattan one does have those same weirdos who have no concept of what they're trying to sell is worth...

but Jah...

Well, it's two channels, but have you considered the Bugera V55?
http://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/prod ... sku=502584

55watts, all tube (6L6 power), TMB, Master Volume, 1x12 combo, and it's $450.

I've known a few guys that have owned Bugera amps and they've all had only positive things to say.

Yeah, stuff definitely pops up at reasonable prices in RVA CL, but I'm usually cashless. I'm thinking after the New York show I'm going to sell it, hold on to the money and save up for the next treasure/trash. I prefer American, definitely want the Fenders. Just nervous about price.

I played the Bugera and I concluded they were cheap for a reason. Although, love the Jungle Book so I love the name.

Side note:

I'm playing Best Friend's Day this year. Come watch!
