I've got a 3 knob singing tree, and we're looking to get another for the other guitar player in my band. Are you able to get the same kinds of tones with the 2 knobber as the 3?

Yup, for the most part. I believe Eric said the gain on the 2 knob is fixed at about 3 o'clock compared to the 3knob.

These are the original specs:

-Small MXR size vertical box (2.37"x4.37")
-Volume Knob
-Threshold Knob
-3 way Gain toggle (boost/overdrive-distortion/fuzz*)
-Your choice of Omaha Tan (darker cocoa color) or Jersey Cream (light tan)

The knobs on mine are clipping threshold, level, gain, and tone.

Is the 3 knob version going to be available again? If not, is there going to be another way of controlling the gain?

I run my Gretsch straight into my Vox, so I have no experience with pedals. When I roll back the volume knob I start to lose treble; is the treble contributing to the amount of gain?

It might affect the way you hear said gain. Losing treble when rolling down volume is a problem for many guitars. With many overdrive/dirt type pedals, even ones with a gain control, you will be able to control gain even more with the guit volume as you are changing how hard the signal from the pups hits the circuit.

Sell the Barber, get the Tree... it's that simple. I just got rid of a DLS for a Tree.
