I fucking love Placebo. I've seen them live 3 times, and they always kicked my ass.

I'm shoulder deep in a Placebo phase right now. Can't get enough of them. That particular clip is from a live set; all 20 parts available on youtube.

Dude that rocks. I've watched at the very least clips of this show every night this week. The whole show a couple times as well.

Here is video of them in Boston, the last time I saw them. One of my favorite songs, too!

I can never get my Russian Muff to sound like that. It's always much muddier, unless I turn the tone up then it gets very upper middy. Is his modded?

Also I thought he used Fender Twins.

I *think* that Brian used a twin and what appears to be a mesa boogie combo (see: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qAh_46kbOo8), then switched the boogie to a marshall around BMM, as seen in the above video. I don't think he uses the Marshall anymore- all recent footage seem to show 2 combos on his side of the stage.

It's funny- he's got an endorsement thru Orange, but when you visit the artist page on the Orange website there's no products listed.

On this tour (fro BMM release) Brian was playing Marshalls. Know that I think of it I *think* his main stack was a 30th anniversary 6100.

To resurrect this oooooooooooooooold thread (but for a reason, promise!!!):

Thanks to archive.org, I was able to pull up the old placeboequipment.com...

http://web.archive.org/web/200707021737 ... pment.com/

First off, looks like I had it backwards about the Marshall- he started with the 6100 head, augmented with the Twin + Big Muff. By the Black Market Music era the Marshall was replaced with a Boogie Mark III combo, and I believe all distortion was coming from pedals. The pedal of choice... a Boss Metal Zone.

Yup. a Boss Metal Zone.

I didn't believe it either! But HTSammy offered me one on a trade, so I took him up on it. It arrived this week. I plugged it in, and using the settings I found on placeboequipment.com, it totally nails the guitar sound from that show.

nice.

Placebo and Clutch are two bands where when i actually listen to them "wow! why don't i listen to these guys more?"

and yet never actually pursue them.
