Hey, this guy on my local craigslist is selling what he says is a "late 60's" vox wah. He says he his the original owner, but doesn't say much else about it. He wants $125 for it and it looks like this:



Does the price seem about right, or do you think I could make some money trying to flip it? I know that some vintage vox wahs are worth quite a bit more, but I was wondering if someone more familiar with this particular pedal could confirm that this is one of those. I assume that if this person is the original owner and says "late 60's" that he probably knows that, but, you know, thought I'd check.

You need a gutshot and you need a pic of the front and the bottom.
If it is a 60s Vox it's worth upwards of $200-800 depending on what it is. (A 68 Clyde McCoy w/ halo inductor & ICAR pot for example will sell for $600+).
For $125, I'm betting it's not -- I'm betting it's 70s-80s at the earliest -- you have to use the ebay timeframe shifter metric: sellers always put older stuff at least a decade before its real date to bump up the price.
But without a gutshot, it could be anything.

Thomas Organ made them for Vox in the US in the 70s, so did Jen in Italy. The guts are different but the case is pretty much identical.
If the caps are big white boxes, then it's late 70s/80s. Thomas, will be stackodimes or TDK depending on where it was made, and that price is pretty much standard for one of those. Jen will have a Fasel of some sort.

Of course, it could be the big score and be a Clyde w/ Arco caps, halo, ICAR, in which case that's a steal.

OTOH, I just scored a looks like 80s Jen for $60, so ...

get a gutshot, or at least have an idea what to look for before going to see it.

Thanks Devnull! I figured you would be the go-to guy for vintage pedal identification. As far as you, Communarchy, I'm in Ashland, about an hour south of Cleveland. I normally just check the Mansfield Craigslist (which doesn't get a lot of action, but still has some good finds from time to time) but I've been checking Cleveland, Akron, and Columbus lately because I'm looking for a good deal on a drum set. The guy with the Vox is apparently in Medina, which isn't too far. I emailed him yesterday, but no response yet. As brief as the description was, I figured there's probably a reason for it. I'm sure the seller's lack of detail regarding the pedals exact year, components, etc, is because it's not actually from the 60's. If that's not the case, then I'm sure someone snatched it up pretty quick anyway.

speaking of craigslist deals, someone in Akron the other day listed a Microkorg with a hardshell case for $25. It was sold by the time I got a hold of them. I pray to God that it was a typo and it was actually $250.
