Filter Sweep pedal

Allright. Been looking for a nice solution for this for quite some time. Okay, not really looking, but thinking of. Basically what I want is the type of weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOwwww sweep sound. I first found out about this stuff when using my dl4 and it's sweep echo. And I know there's a lot of nice pedals out there (don't want an echo park, had a verbzilla and felt like I was gonna break it everytime I used it) but figured I could use some advise from you guys.

I've got two subdecay pedals, a prometheus and a noise box and I reckon they both sound pretty cool if I sustain a note and then twist the freq-knob in desired speed. However, I'd like a pedal that does this on it's own, or is able to be set that way. I've been thinking bout the Whetstone Phaser (at least it looks awesome!) since it supposedly does really long sweeps. But I haven't been able to bond with phasers before (omicron, ph-3, phase 90) and figured maybe I should go for some kind of filter pedal instead.

I like the feel/sound of when playing a part and it feels like it starts far, far away and slowly comes at you through a cloud of plasma (eh..yeah right).

any suggestions? Feel free to ask me some questions of your own to help me pinpoint what I want. I figured I'd for once try to keep the opening post short. Which I clearly failed to do. And yeah, I'll probably do this annoying thing and post this over at TGP too.

what about a moog phaser and an expression pedal on the "Sweep" control



I had one , and i think it's pretty possible to do what you want with this beast.

The Prometheus is an envelope filter, so the sweep follows how loud your signal is. If you want a filter with a sweep that automatically goes at a fixed speed, the only ones I can think of that do that are built into synth pedals. The best one is the EHX Micro Synthesizer. With the sliders, you can choose where you want the sweep to start, end and how long it takes to go between them. That might be what you're looking for. However, even on the longest setting, not sure if it goes slow enough for you.

You might dig the whetstone, it can be a bit filtery if you want it to be and nothing can beat those 1m peak to peak sweeps
It's more on the small stone side of things rather than the phase90 if that matters to you.

If we're talking filters...and I know this might be crazy/out of your range but $450 scores you a robot factory photron filter.
It's an ms-20 style hp/lp/bp filter with footswitchable modulated lfo that you can use to sweep through the filter, it's got a decent range of speed though it doesn't get VERY slow.
It's also got a 3rd stomp called the "ghost wah" that can do momentary swells/sweeps

The only thing on the micro synth that can't handle chords is the octave down slider. That will warble if you feed it chords. I don't think the prometheus has any ability to be foot-swept. But if you're considering something that is foot-sweepable, then the absolute best way to do what you're trying to do is a Moog MF-101 moogerfooger filter with an expression pedal. That really is the phattest filter on the damn planet.

Yeah, Exp/CV out on the prometheus would be great. I am pretty sure it would be manageable though. Isn't every pot/variable resistor replaceable with a exp out? I always wanted to look into that, I have a prometheus too and to use it as a normal Wah via exp Pedal would be badass.

I can recommend the Grand Orbiter for what you're looking for. it can be superslow and is really nice and tweakable with sweep, depth and resonance controls.

I will have to look at the photron filter...

Keep the advice coming guys. Haven't been a lot into moog stuff but perhaps it's time I had a look. And hell that photron phaser looks cooooooooooooooooooooool! Would like to see at least one demo though before I purchase one.

ehx worm does some cool sweep stuff and the alesis philtre is a dope filter w/ LFO and selectable waveform that does cool sweeps too. both on the cheaper side of things too.
