its not like a need another drive pedal by any means, but this popped up on craigslist and i've always been curious, hearing they're guv'nor clones. any experiences with these?

There used to be a CMATMODS Daddy-O, but they've suspended doing mods on their website. Then again, it's only $25 for the daddy-o, and I'm sure if you wanted to you could mod it yourself.

I got a pastrami overdrive for free once... it wasn't the best drive pedal but I didn't throw it away.
Not sure if that's relevant, but I say buy it. If anything it'll be fun in a feedback loop?

I'd get it. That's what my room mate paid for his (though he never uses it). I think they are a resistor and diode away from being a guvnor.

I'd skip it. To my ears they aren't anything special, and it's not like $25 is a stellar deal on one. You can get them for that whenever you want.
Hell. I've passed on them for $15 before.

I used a Daddy-o to mangle vocals once. It sucked.

This is true! You could add another $25 and get one of the noisemaker pedals

If a pedal sounds good, it sounds good

Aside from all the legal mumbo jumbo and negative things that have been done by that company...who the hell cares? No one wanted silvertones, etc, back in the day, and look how much some of that stuff goes for now.
