tempted to get one. i just need a bass bad period. not even a Beattles fan but i'd love to have one...

i used to have one. really comfortable, very unique sound and feel that can produce interesting feedback with the right amount of dirt. everyone loved looking at it, and it had a nice woody tone that could also get quite bright.

If you change out the pickups sure. I have played a few and the pickups suck. Actually I have yet to find a Epiphone bass under $600 where the pickups don't.

Who makes aftermarket pickups for these?
The guy said there's a Musicman pickup in the bridge but I've never seen one that would for without it being all Dremeled out...

Hard to say without measurements. Something that fits a Hofner might work. No I can't see how a MM pickup would fit without heavy moding, the viola pickups are about the size or firebird guitar pickups if I remember right.

I have a Dimarzio model one in my short scale telebass, and it fits in there perfectly.

It sounds decent but it's ugly. I'd like to get something that fits in there, even if it's not original.
I've spent the last two hours peeling stickers off. This will be a sexy bass before too long.

Here are a couple more pictures for the lulz.
I've peeled all the flags, stickers, "space tape", and rhinestones off... a little Goo Gone sponge bath is up next.

Great pickup, have two basses I built with those.
But they are made to fit in a Gibson EB sized hole...

It's hard to tell from the pictures, but right above the first fret were Lisa Frank seahorse stickers.
