Analog Delay Pedal Recommendations

Hey Fuzzlovers

I've been slowly removing my racks to go back to pedals over the year and have amassed a nice little collection so far.

I use an Empress Superdelay for digital delay, but am after something for analog.

So far I've liked what I see with the DMB Lunar Echo, Malekko Dark Echo 600, and the Earthquaker Disaster Transport. I'm after something with expression pedal usage and about 600 delay. I'm looking to spend anywhere from $200-400US, but any recommendations I might have missed would be appreciated.

If you don't mind used my fave is the Maxon AD900, love the thing.

The e600d is one of my favorite delays...ever. Great for general tone fattening and the oscillation will make small animals explode.

I love the Superdelay man.

But when I need some lo-fi delay action, I go for the PDS 1002. Not analog, but has a nice grainy quality to it. However, if I was gonna go with an analog delay, I'd probably go with the old, big box DMM. You can't beat the classic.

Then again, the Disaster Transport does seem like an awesome delay for the price (even if it is digital).

Used isn't a problem, finding them might be. I live in New Zealand so I can only import.

Didn't know the Disaster Transport was digital, thanks for the heads up Nychthemeron, and yeah the Empress is incredible :)

IMO the Analog Man ARDX20 is top notch. It isn't extremely pricey, and it's sounds are nothing short of excellent as far as analog delays go.

Does it come in any colour other than pink? :)

I've been looking for an analog delay for preferably under £100. How are the MXR carbon copies? I've also looked at some old japanese analog delays like tokai's and arion sad-1s, which are supposed to be quite good, hard to find a nice one though

The Carbon Copies are nice but I have heard they have a defect and just die after a while... might not affect all units but something to keep an eye out for...

The EHX Memory Toy is a bargain for under £100 though and has the benefit of modulation over the Carbon Copy i'd check that out, or even the Memory Boy, EHX knows its stuff when it comes to BBDs.

Going Japanese, for £25 you can pick up a Daphon E20DL take the Delay chip out (they come socketed) stick a new one in and you have a BOSS DM-2 Clone for £30 (albeit a bit tone sucky, but it didn't bother me) The older units are nice too, some are better than others of course though... depends what turns up on ebay, most of those 300ms delays though are basically the same in design though.

+1 on the DMM. My favorite!

i too was into the lunar echo, but the wait time kills it for me. it's around 2-3 months due. i found this company last night and figured i'd suggest it...

http://www.jhspedals.com/JHS_Pedals/JHS ... nther.html

seems to be packed full of features and have that hand built quality to it. in your price range, and it seems like a sweet pedal. the sound samples at the bottom of the page sound incredible. such a warm tone, especially with a little reverb thrown in the mix.

But it's PINK as well!

No, seriously, thanks for that, will definitely check out the suggestion.

That JHS seems a bit expensive for what it is...if you want extras check out the deluxe memory boy.

I had one and it stood up there with my dmm/skrecho/e600d. I sold it for extra amp funds, but I plan on buying anoher dmb in the future.
