It's about damn time they made an affordable Les Paul w/P90s.
PLEASE DON'T BE CHAMBERED

Certainly seems to be the
universal reaction
It looks cool. Good to see them getting stuff out in that price range too, without getting it made in China. As far as I'm concerned a Les Paul should have a gold top and P90s, so they win in that regard.
My guess is it'll be chambered tough -- they're all chambered now.

Chambered or not, this is a great deal. The P90s should react well to the chambers.
There were comments in the forum devnulljp linked about buying an $850 guitar from a company that makes $3,000 guitars. I disagree with them--I bought a LP Special around 1990 for which I paid about $500 new. It's one of the best guitars I ever bought.
My order is in for a goldtop.
And I'm a Fender man.

I actually really prefer chambered. I like the half-hollow tone my LP Studio Vintage Mahogany has. Looks cool for a gold top, and will probably sound great with P-90s.
Then again, I'll stick with my Burstbucker Pros and worn finish.

Yeah, I don't see the logic behind those comments at all. I paid $550 for my SG Special Faded and it's a wonderful guitar.

They like to think that more money = better build quality, which is true to a certain point. But then again, when you talk about Gibson, a $500 "throwaway" LP Studio can have a better sound than a $3000 collectable LP Custom.

And I don't know many people who would rather gig with a $3000 Gibson than a $500 dollar one

I'm really debating selling my tele to get one of these guys. I may wait for the initial batch to see what some of the reviews are.

I'm not a big fan of LPs, especially gold tops, but I like that they are doing this. I really want a P90 SG.

^ You can probably get one off eBay. Damn those look great, too bad their street price'll probably be something like double the 50s tribute.

Cherry finish is sweet though, plus ebony fretboard!

If you like that so much, get the LP VM in Worn Cherry and switch the buckers for P-90s. The neck isn't the huge 50s one, but considering what you said it would be a good (and comparatively inexpensive) option.
