I dig the thing, but the texture knob does assfuck nothing as far as i can tell. is there a cap i can switch out or maybe just a lower/higher value pot?

Yup... the texture knob is just an input cap blend, if you look at the schematic, just change the 0.02uF cap to a higher value, try 0.1uF.

Thanks Scruffie. now to unwrap the pcb and shit. Finding out what to do? that's easy. doing it? that's hard.

You can't tell the difference between smooth muff one one side and the harsh fucking treble on the otherside? You must be playing with your tone knob rolled back all the way...
don't mean to be rude but I completely disagree and I've had three Aenimas.

Maybe mine's broken?

also, no offense taken.

Plausable, could also be your set up... I see you have a wah from your pedal board picture, tried it in different places on your board?
Also, active pickups? Might make a difference.
Failing that and you do decide it's broken, try re-melting the joints on the input caps to see if that helps.

Wah's true bypass, checked that.

same problem using EMGs as Passives

Maybe. Looking at the board there doesn't APPEAR to be anything wrong. but that doesn't neccesarily mean there isn't.

All makes sense, seems you've gone through the debugging route, could still be your set up but just not a problem with it, just its reactance to that pedal so yeah, give swapping values a go after checking the joints, they may look okay but as you say, doesn't mean they neccesarily are.
I've not owned an Aenima so I can't comment on the effectiveness of the texture knob so I can't really say much more... does the Texture knob have any effect at all though? Can you hear the sweep of it or is it just fixed?

sounds fixed. it doesn't even do anything to white noise.

That don't sound right... even with set up issues i'd expect to hear the pots sweep in the background, yeah i'd have a check that everything's okay on the board and the pot... (pot could be dead itself or the wires broken to or from it)

I think it's the pot. it stops at the right places, but it doesn't sweep at all. If it was a broken wire i'd expect it to go dead at some point. So i'll probably order a new pot and see if that works.

I wouldn't be so sure about the wire being out the question... it'd still function... but may aswell just order a pot, a new cap value incase it really is just not blending enough for you, replacement caps for the original values and a metre of wire to re-wire the pot, cover all bases then really, just re-install everything and hope for the best!

Weirdest thing, i opened it up, messed around with a couple of wires, and it works now. go figure. i didn't solder anything or anything!
still gonna replace that cap and put a switch in to switch between 'em.

Loose solder connection or bad wire then most likelys...
But yeah, sounds like a good mod to try, it'll just make the darker side alot darker... might require a pot value change to get the best of the sweep, see how ya go.
