I have heard very little about this pedal, which I believe has been discontinued now. Seems like it didn't get the attention the other EQD pedals got. What's it like?

i've got one of the bigger box ones... its a great fuzz pedal. its got a bias knob so you can crank it for smoother ripping fuzz or roll it back for the velcro type stuff.

i'd explain more, but i'm terrible at this.

It's not discontinued but it is a slow seller. It's more on the fuzz face side of things with a ripping velcro overtone (but it can cover a lot of ground) and a lot of output.

Thanks, Jamie. I wasn't concerned about the output though. I always know that your pedals will be loud as hell!

The Dirt Tansmitter is the only fuzz you make that I haven't tried yet. I'll have to check it out one of these days, but right now I'm having too much fun with the Zap Machine.

i dont know if you'd be down, but when you're done honeymooning with the zap machine i'd be more than willing to do a temp trade!

To me, the Dirt Transmitter is not as smooth as the Hoof yet super versatile with different amps and settings. You can coax just about a billion different combinations of sounds with it by using your guitar controls and the pedal pots.

It is difficult to get the DT to not sound "crushing", thats kinda what it does. Even with my mandolin pickup, which is like 3k.

I have the big box version too and I friggin love it! I've had numerous fuzz pedals including the highly sought after Fulltone Soul Bender and Lovepedal 400lbs of Tone.
The Soul Bender was too muddy and the Lovepedal was too noizy and harsh. The DT was exactly what I wanted. The Bias knob allows you to dial in that spitty nasal fuzz ala Wilco's "At Least That's What You Said" but you can also crank it to the smoothest full sounding Smashing Pumpkins ala Siamese Dream fuzz.

It cleans up really well with your guitar's volume knob and you can even make it sound like an amp on the verge of death where the tubes are in that beautiful crackly danger zone of tone. This pedal has a ton of output and I haven't moved the Level knob past 9 oclock yet as it may actually harm small animals outside if I do so! The tone knob is a great way to dial in the right amount of highs or smooth out the fuzz to creamy violin tone.

The best thing about this pedal is the fact that it's whisper quiet! When engaged you don't even know it until you hit a note. I mean it's that quiet! Anyone who's owned a fuzz pedal knows how noisy those are.

Lastly I have to qualify these statements with the fact that I'm a pedal addict and have effect wanderlust. I'm almost never satisfied with what I have no matter how sweet it sounds and I have to say I have had no Fuzz wanderlust since I got this pedal! It's perfect for what I need. (my band plays a hybrid of alt-country/americana/spacerock)

I had the older 3 knob version. Interesting fuzz, goes from low gain (for me, that's probably medium gain for most) to squishy squelchy fuzz. I believe teh black keys guy uses one?

For me, Dirt Transmitter>Hoof.
I like the Hoof and all, but the DT is way more FUZZY. Hoof is POWER, DT is what I think of when I think FUZZ.

I've got one of these too, a small box one, and I really like it. Great classic fuzz tone!

I've just got one in the post today actually, it's #61, in a small enclosure with the little daka-ware knobs. Not sure if this is an early version before it officially got changed to a smaller enclosure or not.

I need to pick one up again. Had an older 3 knob that got traded away. Sounded awesome in a feedback loop

I am a proud new owner of a DT.

My lovely girlfriend got me one for my birthday! Hell of a gal she is.

Didn't have a ton of time to mess around with it, but first impressions are that it is a nice compliment to what I already have. Pretty amazed at how responsive it is to picking dynamics. May very well be the most dynamic fuzz/od pedal I've ever played. Crunchy as all hell. Great for leads.... really cuts. Was getting some excellent upper octave stuff happening with the bias rolled back and the tone up a bit. Has midrange for days, and the lowend gets massive as you dial in more of the fuzz control. The very tip of the treble response is pretty close to my Tusk Fuzz (LOVE), but it's not as scooped sounding at higher gain settings (not better, just different).

Great pedal. Looking forward to "flying blind" with it at my gig tomorrow night.
