I'll probably have all of that this weekend, as we're probably going to be snowed and iced in. So I hope it's good. I'll probably still watch all of it, if it's just not revoltingly terrible.

Watched E1 of ED.
It made me think of Black Mirror just not quite as dark.

I think I have most of Electric Dreams on my PVR. I'm going to watch that sometime soon. Probably going to finish Black Mirror s4 first. And I really need to convince my gf to finish watching Twin Peaks: the Return. Last time I watch something that I really want to see with her...

as i've gotten older, animal abuse hits me harder than when i was younger.
yet human torture/death/abuse bothers me less.
does that make me a bad person?
WOOT INTROSPECTION.
Pretty happy to have that warning prior to watching the season. That kind of thing has definitely started to hit me harder and harder lately. Probably because I have a doggo of my own now.
Also, I don't think it makes you a bad person because human abuse bothers you less...does that make me a bad person? Are we both bad people?

just finished Ep1..
I'd say it does the darkness differently/more subtly...?
because...
nice dose of that PKD schizophrenia
and I do think the implications are quite dark, no?
possibly even more gritty than BM

Altered Carbon looks like Blade Runner or Deus Ex. Is it based on something?

oh boy, more for the list then?

hadnT heard of it before, but apparently "Altered Carbon is a 2002 hardboiled cyberpunk science fiction novel by Richard K. Morgan"
not heard of him either...
I mean those themes have been explored here & there but will most likely more and more accompany us in the mainstream
at least for a while (or) until they are no longer science fiction

That looks like Blade Runner mixed with that movie that came out a couple years ago with Ryan Reynolds and Ben Kingsley where Kingsley's consciousness gets put into Reynold's body. I have no idea what that movie was called. It wasn't very good.
This though, this looks really good. I will watch this for sure
Edit: also using NIN in a trailer makes me want to watch pretty much anything...

let's be bad people together!
i mean, the whole 8 episodes there's only 2 scenes of animal violence. but enough to make me irrevocably dislike the main guy character.
i'm TOUCHY about aminalsss.

I'll be bad peoples with you any day, behndy
And yeah that's the one jrfox. Really wasn't that good. It was just another sci fi movie that had potential, but just didn't work out.

I'm hoping it's more like the one where Lily Tomlin gets control over half Steve Martin's body and shenanigans ensue. Or maybe that one with Chris Rock and the dead white guy.
Gonna hit up Electric Dreams tonight. Some of my friends are saying it's more poorly written than this season of Black Mirror, which is concerning, but they also have A: limited exposure to sci-fi beyond Star Wars and video games (and I think were just expecting more overtly edgy Black Mirror-style stuff from it), and B: no taste, so I dunno. Fingers crossed for solid PKD vibes, at least, not too dry or self-serious.

I've not heard good things and love PKD so I've been staying away. Interested to hear more thoughts!
