VFE always seems like stuff I should probably buy but just haven't for whatever reason. I'll check it out.

I've had two custom VFE pedals and both worked well. One was a pink Mobius Strip with handwritten labeling (looked cool, sounded good, but I had other stuff with similar sounds). The other one is still here. It's a non-standard version of his earlier phaser, which eventually evolved into the Tractor Beam. I love that one. It's compact, but it has so many nice sounds.

No experiences with their dirt, but they've done some nice variations on trem/vibe. The Rise & Fall actually has a momentary mode, which you can hear in the Hermans' demo around the 3:40 mark.

Someone got a spare 55k lying round?

Do these really go for that much? Don't really know anything about that pedal, but it seems like a hell of a lot.

The most expensive pedal I've seen sell was a near mint Rangemaster CIB for almost 10k.
That aussie doesn't want to sell his pedal.

Weird. The same store listed a 1968 one 6 months ago for about 2k. Not sure if it sold for that, or under. Either way that's a big difference between 55k and <2k.

I wish I'd bought an Echo Ohce back in the day. His stuff always seems to be thought out really well with some interesting twists, nicely made and priced reasonably. Dude is doing some cool things with the school system, too.

they are just being weasels about pricing and hoping to get a sucker to offer like 4k or whatever instead of what the last one sold for by obfuscating the range of price

Yeah, the current owner is def fishing for a deep-pocketed collector to be the next owner, but despite its rarity (framed by the HOLY GRAIL trope) the pedal isn't in ***collector condition*** with box/bag/candy/swag etc and therefore it should not fetch more than about $2k, 3k tops.

It's a nasty trend of saying "we don't know what this is worth so we put a massive number on the listing and you have to play 'The Price Is Right' until someone is dumb enough to offer something crazy based on hype". It's exactly what Reverb themselves did with Corgan's stuff, pretend "we don't know what this is worth :idk: " when they no doubt had a pretty good idea of what that stuff should fetch.

This is dangerous. If they sell via email and then end the listing saying they sold it elsewhere Reverb could justifiably charge them commission on the listing price. I've seen cases where they review messages to see that people arranged a purchase off Reverb and then Reverb charged the seller the commission owed since the people tried to skirt reverb's fees.

:whateva: Folks have posted that Reverb has charged them fees when a sale was arranged to be completed off the site but using the site to make the arrangements. Maybe not here but I've seen a couple accounts. Regardless it would be totally within reason for Reverb to oppose using their site for advertising to sell the item elsewhere. This is why eBay doesn't allow email addresses or phone numbers in listings and pops up a warning if you type an email or phone number into a message.

Its also in the terms and conditions
(D) Fee Avoidance/Void Transactions: The price stated in each item listing description must be an accurate representation of the sale. Sellers may charge reasonable shipping and handling fees to cover the costs for packaging and mailing the items. Sellers may not charge excessive shipping fees. You may not misrepresent the item's location, or use another user's account without permission. No sales may be carried out via private message as a means to avoid Reverb's sales fee. Any other efforts to move sales initiated on Reverb off-site to avoid fees is strictly prohibited and may result in account suspension or termination. Any transaction initiated on the Site, but consummated off-site will not be subject to any of Reverb's policies or protections.
