Dragon Quest 11 is totally brilliant and I will 100% buy it again on switch.

After a few years of struggling with "grown-up" games that end up feeling like a second job (Hi, everything Rockstar made after GTA 2) I dug out our old Wii and started playing Super Mario Galaxy. Turns out Nintendo is where I feel comfortable and happy and have actual fun playing videogames rather than trawling for achievements. Teenage me was an idiot to get seduced by all that Xbox bullshit, a few games aside.
Which leads me to the question I think I half know the answer to. Is a Switch worth it? They are still quite/really pricey but on the other hand Mario.

Yeah, Nintendo is where most of the feelgood games are. I'd say worth it.

Definitely worth it! Been loving Smash Bros and Mario Kart. Haven't played Mario Party much yet, but definitely want to get my hands on some of the other Mario games and Zelda for sure

Reasons to buy a Switch:
Mario (duh)
SPLATOON 2. Just trust me. So much fun.
Pokemon. Let's Go just came out and they announced Sword and Shield the other day. 20+ years later and the formula still works.
Zelda! BotW is a must play and they just announced a remake of Link's Awakening.
Metroid Prime 4 sometime
Diablo III if that's your thing
And the eShop is full of awesome indie games. Stardew Valley for relaxin' feels. Enter the Gungeon. 1000 others.
And it's all portable. Fukkin do it

Finished Mass Effect 2 for the first time.
WOW!
Did not see the end of that coming. (will not spoil it)
I did not make good choices apparently.
Started ME3 and played the intro mission. Wow again!
Seems like impossible odds!
I've somehow avoided spoilers for these games so I'm super pumped to see how it all ends.

After diving deep into Subnautica and now being completely fucking obsessed, I can say I like it marginally better than The Forest because of the setting, but The Forest still has some seriously insane AI that makes the game a real creep fest. I lost a 60 hours hardcore Subnautica run because I dozed off and woke up with cat licking my face and "You died, Game over" on the screen at 2am. No idea what happened. Cursed my own stupidity and recklessness, went back to menu and started over on the spot. Any other game would've been a huge kick in the balls and probably a wide eyed night of regret and hypothesizing about time travel but Sub didn't break my spirit and I'm about the same place I was when I died last time.
Kinda tired of FPS perspective though. When I'm done with Sub I'll probably get back to my retro backlog starting with Crusader No Remorse or Cannon Fodder, just to get out of FPS and change shit around for a while. Maybe Homeworld remaster or Full throttle remastered....mmhh

I think I liked ME2 slightly more, but both are excellent experiences.

Finished Metro Exodus. Woooow.
The late-mid section did kinda lose me, but the last chapter was amazingly good and the early moments was excellent. It's also one of the recent games that actually has well written side characters.
Kinda want to do another playthrough with the Russian dub for the true feel bad experience.

Mass Effect is kinda like a modern TV series where it's just better a better experience going through it like you're binging it. I feel like the overall themes of the series translates better in a full Trilogy run.
But because EA are sneaky fuckers, all of the DLC is basically necessary so get that shit.

I wish they would make a new Stalker game. I've never tried any of the Metro ones, should I just try the first....first?

Wish there were more survival horror on it but I did get Observer (spooky cyber punk) and hope it delivers.

So glad I didn't even try Red Dead Online, sounds like every update is making it more of a pay-to-play shithole.
I think I'm going to redownload Sniper Elite IV, I kind of rushed through it the first time I might take more time to savor blowing up Nazi testicles.

Ooohhh, I installed a paracable into my Zowie mouse and its absolutely my favourite mouse that i've ever used now - genuinely feels like it's wireless now.
About $20 and 20ish minutes to install. Totally worth it.
