So in case no one is my Facebook friend I wanted to say I won my Bodybuilding show!! I placed 1st in my division in my first show and am now nationally qualified for any show in the country for a year! My next show is in November! I can't wait!! I had an absolute blast. Thought I'd hate it but I loved it more than I can express. So thrilled and humbled right now.

I'm going to stay at 10-15 lbs from stage weight as I'm doing one more show this year. November 17th in Kansas City. :) I'm hoping to win that one as well but if I don't, oh well!! I'm already qualified to go for a pro card, so I just have to keep trying! :) What I'd really like is a sponsorship from a supplement company. I'm actually surprised I wasn't approached. That normally happens. Oh well!!! :) I have high hopes but am staying humble. I could get crushed at the next one! You never know what will happen! I still had 6 lbs I could have packed on too and stay in the same division. So my goal will be to do that. Gain that 6lbs and then be a big ass 175-176 at weigh in. :) It's weird because I look so much bigger in the pictures than I actually was. It's all an illusion! LOL

Here's a link to all the pictures. They are only for sale but you can view them and everyone else that competed that night.

So my prejudging pictures are here http://augustphotography.zenfolio.com/p ... #h54829535

Evening finals are here http://augustphotography.zenfolio.com/p ... #h5495e734

And soon as they move their asses, there will be personal pics I took too. :)

Funny you mention a sponsorship, I was talking to my boss about that and he seemed to be all about it. I'll shoot you an email with the details later.

So what's everybody taking for preworkout supplements lately? I do admit to getting a bit of cocaine-like enjoyment out of them, which I'm sure is becoming less unusual all the time. :animal:
Lately I've been taking Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde, they're a pretty effective combo. I take one or the other every day right before work (or workout, whichever comes first); Jekyll brings the focused pump, Hyde brings the br00tz. Half & half also works well.
Used to take C4 because Costco has the bomb deal on it, but it stopped being effective, I think probably because my body got too used to it. I'm on my third round of Jekyll&Hyde now, so I'll probably be changing it up again soon.

For protein I'm currently hooked on the dark chocolate King Mass, it tastes like chocolate cake. Mega-calorie gainers are the only kind I'm interested in anymore, so done with half-assed lean shakes.

So for pre-workouts, I've found most times they don't do much. :) You actually usually better off making your own. Most of them have a bunch of shit in them that you don't need and most likely don't want either. My top would be Pre Jym, but it is semi expensive. So I stick to C4 currently or whatever is on sale. I try to avoid Yohimbe though as it interacts with a med I take. You have to watch stuff like that.

Of course I will be taking something different very soon thanks to my new best friend James. :)

For protein, the last year or more I've taken Dymatize Elite Whey. It's good stuff and gets the job done. I'm a simple man and only do chocolate flavors. lol

Getting supplements for free must be the absolute greatest. I wonder sometimes how much further along I could be with unlimited access to a treasure chest of secret weapons like that.
I mix my PWOs into a potent green/matcha tea (20 bags per pitcher), so I guess that's making my own? Gets me feeling pretty bouncy anyway, and I'll take whatever works at my age (45).
Never tried Pre Jym. Used to like original jack3d, before they started changing it every few years. Hi-Health generics were terrible. The green arnold one from walmart was pretty good.
I've been using light vanilla almond milk for my protein shakes and have been off regular milk for about 6 months now, and it's made a huge difference on the belly fat. I'm finally seeing the start of some abs, after 12 years of regular but mostly pretty moderate exercise.

Getting anything for free or a discount even is amazing! I bought some pre-work out called Angel Dust (no joke) at my show for 15 bucks and it's normally 45. I felt like I was robbing a bank! LOL!

The reason I liked Pre Jym is it has everything you need as opposed to a bunch of crap you don't need. It's got beta aniline, creatine HCI, and caffeine. That's pretty much all you need IMO for a good work out. Maybe some taurine.

I've even just done coffee before.

The protein is more crucial than anything. You want something pure without a shit ton of fillers.

jwar congrats dude thats awesome! proud of you man thats a lot of hard work there.
For pre-workout I just do a cup of coffee and any kind of fast carb in case I hadn't gotten enough carbs in me when I head to the gym. I really hate pre-workout. Aside from actually disliking the feeling immensely, I realized that even though it helps me through a few extra reps, my CNS interprets it still as having reached complete failure so I burnout early on into my workout. Whenever I need hype to lift I just jump around and do weird shit.
As for protein, I was using carnivore which is a beef protein for a while, but stopped because it has creatine in it (idea of the beef protein is it's bio-availability, which whey isn't really). I only have one after I workout sometimes, I don't really hold protein powder too highly considering protein from food is superior. You just gota work harder to it whatever your daily limit is with that.
