I like Smash because I'm not competitive and I don't mind the chaos.
It's also propelling the Switch to sell stupid numbers in Japan, which will potentially/tangentially encourage them to put their shmups on it. The Switch seems to have brought Treasure back from the dead, for one, with a planned Silvergun port.

That's a good reason, shmups. Let's get some Batrider! Some more IREM and Taito too. And the entire Cave collection of course. Glad Dangun Feveroj is back. We need ESP.ra.de now.
I'm not competitive at fighting games either but I like to play them. I just can't grasp how not to die constantly.
Maybe it's different with people around to play against where it's just goofy fun, but playing against the computer is stupidly frustrating.
I won't play oine either because I've done that and I'm always years behind everyone playing online haha. The switch is about the only time I've had a console during it's actual life haha. And I really only play 1-2 hours a week. People play like crazy these days.

i am loving the little buggererer. been mostly diving into Ironcast and Hollow Knight, with a touch of Mario U etc (such a dumb long silly name). i have the new Zelds on there, and Diablo 3. waiting till i'm through/bored with other stuff though.
mein GOTT i love Hollow Knight. i lost like 900 coin at the beginning and almost rage uninstalled, i don't love the idea of wiping out loads of progress with a death. but at least your loot is persistent.
the Pro controller looks neat, but i am so in Sex Touch Secret Rubs Lurv with the 8BitDo SN30Pro pad.
it feels like childhood.
in the best and naughtiest of ways.

I'd say the 8bitdo will do ya for any kinda platformer sidescrolly bit thing, but I'd highly recommend the Pro controller before you tackle Zelda. I switched to that from JoyCons about halfway through my playthrough and it was wonderful. I've been using a ton of the Gamecube controller too since Smash came out, it's nice having that interface accessible again since it was the last system I owned before I got my Switch about a year ago.
Mario U has been giving me some fun times this past weekend. I did about an hour of multiplayer with a pal and it was good old fashioned fun, though I died way too much by failing to account for the other person being in my way or bumping me back when I landed on a platform, etc. It's got all the charm of the old Marios but with a lot of modern touches to make it nicer.

cooooool. will keep that in mind suh! lol. with another controller though, that's one more thing to charge/keep track of. and i loooove the way the SN30 feels in my hands, but i can see how a traditional modern controller would be a nifty option.
i'm annoyed at the odd power consumption for the Switch. i like the Anker charge brick that is Nintendo Licensed, but it feels weird paying twice as much for half the power.
i found a tiny little cover for the Switch for moving around times, unfortunately i didna notice it was covered in felt.
01) i.... can't touch felt. i have this Tactile Incompatibility with things like felt or velvet or cotton balls rolled between the fingers. makes my butthole shiver just thinking about it.
02) with 3 kits and a doggo and owning a dog grooming bidness..... i need things in my life that DONT attract and store pet hair.
have a not as cute but more appropriate sleeve and a micro Switch Plus Accessories bag for longer trips hitting tomorrow.
also, my phone is getting cracks in the screen. if i can find a 10 inch'ish tablet that lets me use it as a phone with a sim card that takes USB C? YES please.
so freaking stupid that UNIVERSAL Serial Bus has so many damn connection options. but if i can get the phone over to C then all my portable stuff will be interchangeable cords. which. WOOT.

also, about Hollow Knight and the LOVE -
it feels like a beautiful modern take on old school Metroid. like, if i had the time to dump into games that i used to, i would learn every. damn. room by heart. i also really like platformers that have the less realistic/more fun change direction in mid-air mechanic, i love the exploration and the level designs are awesoooooome. been a few times i've been a little lost on where to go next, but it's fun to chunk around and figure it out.
and most of the design is so good that i can hit an inaccessible area and know that i'm going to get a charge or double jump in bit.
i LIKE it.

Anybody played Sunless Sea (that HP Lovecraft inspired adventure game on Steam)?
Every time it goes on sale I’m so tempted

I have it and tried it for an hour maybe. It's one of those games that I tried and then stopped myself because I wanted to get into it proper later.
The exploration aspect is really good, plus it's also kinda similar to Sid Meier's Pirates, which I love so much. I do recommend it.

I have Doom on PS4, which is an ideal controller in a lot of ways but dual-sticking I find tiring. Maybe I need to grab the switch port for the lurvely pro controller experience

Doom on Switch runs at 30 fps vs 60 fps on ps4. Just a heads up.

Don't preorder that shit, though.
It's almost guaranteed that Ubi's gonna downgrade even the not-particularly-exceptional graphics in TD2.
