Same here. I’m all about the dirty drums.

That mini rig looks like a ton of fun.

i am EXCITE. get to sit down and fuck around tonight. annnnnd the Black Box works as a MIDI host, so i can sit in bed and power the Mini off the BBox.

mostly got the Box to sample beats from Pulsar-23 (IF IT EVER GETS HERE) and Cycles, but looking forward to looping and cutting up tons of stuff.

hurm. so. unsure on the Mini Mk3. it's damn cool, exactly the size i want, easy to switch channels and everything, like it a LOT.

buuuuuut there's no CV clock in, and no MIDI in. the thing i was most excited about was the neat and odd arpegiator options. but if it doesn't sync to tempo from other boxes, kinda useless. even without that, it's a boss ass controller. so probably would stick with it. but no MIDI/CV in kinda.... sucks.

i think the way you're supposed to do that is run it with Ableton (preferably, Novation looooves some Ableton) or another DAW (probabbbbbly?), get master tempo from that. but i don't like using my computer as a master, was hoping to keep the same workflow. definitely not worth switching up EVERYthing for one arpegiation option.

i do have a Kenton MIDI Through 5, the plan was to send Temp Start Stop from Pam's through the Kenton to Black Box, Cycles and Pulsy. i don't know how to do that AND send note data from a keyboard like the Mini.

murrrr i really, REALLY don't want a huge nest of wires and connections to keep track of. is there something, even a rack mount thing, that would do what i'm trying to do?

liiiiike i'm really thinking about grabbing a Toraiz Squid. the rhythm manipulation stuff looks NEAT. dunno if it's overkill. it seems to have a ton of problems and weird design stuff.

i am CONFUSED. options?

What kind of arpeggiation stuff does it do that's so enticing?

it has the standard up, down, up/down, random, but then a Mutate and Deviate. you get a knob for each and hold Arp, change the knob, Mutate will at lower levels add random notes that are close to the arp'd chord, higher will mangle the shit out of it. Deviate will do the same for changing the rhythm. when you let go of the Arp button, it freezes and loops where it's at.

it's neaaaaaaaaat.

think i'm just going to try a Kenton Merge 4 in conjunction with the Through, see if that works with what i'm trying to do. cheapest solution?

Ooo that arpeggiation sounds very nice indeed

it's seriously cool. trying to figure out some way to tempo lock it without having a DAW open. that's not the WORST, but it would mean i have to rewire everything and change the whole flow where the DAW is master, not Pam's. don't really want to do that.

ooooo new update for Marbles -

"How does it work? A long press on the t or X DEJA VU buttons locks the random generation for this section – which will stop responding to the DEJA VU knob. When a section is in this “super locked” state, the illuminated push-button blinks rapidly. Press it to bring it back to normal.

What is the point? Allow subtle variations or permutations in the melody (by playing with the DEJA VU knob) while the rhythm remains constant… or vice-versa!"

lol. you suh, are out of LUCK. i am taking a break from modular loots. want to grab a Mk3 Squarpymid and a Korg Miniloooouge XD module, concentrate on getting a good comfy workflow with MIDI controlled synth loots, then work on integrating modulars. i am HAPPY with my setup. no tinkering needed.

i dunno what the fuck i did, only difference was a Black Box update, but now powering the Launcy Minster from the B Box USB hub keeps the Mins in sync for arp'ing.

shizz. is. BEAUTIFUL.

working on a vid.

sequencer on BBox is pretty neat, but fiddly. think i'd enjoy it more with an external sequencer. but the Mini Arp is neaaaaaaaat. playing with the random note and rhythm shifting, mild filtering, and switching between octave range -

Hey! Haven't been around lately so thought I'd check in to see what the haps is. Looks like some great gear acquisitions for many..... as to be expected.

Did a large sell off recently... still some more to post and probably a second round of things I didn't want to let go the first but feels good to get things a bit more manageable and focused.

Been mainly picking up some rack gear and 500 series pieces lately but a few recent modules too: Kermit mkiii, Lubdah, Arbhar, Crater, and put together a full Birdkids system with their Raven, 2 Batluers, and all the expansions, mixers and envelope generators they offer.

Mainly looking forward to my name being called for a Pulsar 23. Behndy, if you don't jive with yours I got dibs if my name hasn't been called yet!

Also, I think the Moto Modular Space Case TE2 is finally close to being released.... got two of those paid for. Still the most anticipated purchase ever.

lol. i so do NOT to tape stuff... and i am glaaaaaad. shit looks baller, is EXPENSIVE, i feel lucky to not have the DESIRES.

Ruinies - you asked over on Muffs, i was number 389, mines shipped about 4 weeks ago. no update in 3.7 weeks, and i am NOT STRESSED ABOUT THAT AT ALL.

but Cycles got in today. it is fanTASTic. loving it so far. super quick and fun.

thinnnnnnnnk i'm'a take another crack at the Squarpymid as a Central Control Brain Buggeriboo. watched Loopop's vidja, feels like it cleared up all the ideas i stumbled over before.

Ah ok... I'm 527 so I guess I still have quite a wait.... wonder how many they're turning out at a time?

You're going to be fine... as a rule of thumb I never start stressing until it's been 3.8 weeks or more. Look.... if you just let me buy it from you right now then you won't have any stress because you won't care anymore. PROBLEM SOLVED.

I keep getting REAL close to picking up a D-2000 but then I think I'm just scratching an itch until my Pulsar arrives... I know they're different but both expensive drums so trying to wait but I've almost hit the buy now button like 7 times over the past week.

murrrrrf want a Minilogue XD module then i think i'm not only satisfied, but out of space.

Not modular related anymore so maybe we should have a different thread, but Behndy I am curious to hear more of your thoughts after you've spent some more time with both the Black Box and Model Cycles.

I've been thinking I need either a new sampler to free up my Digitakt for more drum specific duties or a drum machine to cover more drum specific duties while I keep messing with samples on the Digitakt.

I've been curious about the Black Box since it came out, but I've always been a little weary about the interface. I don't think I would actually jive with the workflow.

On the other hand, I wasn't originally too interested in the Model Cycles, but it seems like I could use it as a pretty fun drum machine and I am already pretty comfortable with Elektron machines. I think I'm starting to lean towards the Model Cycles.

jia. does it bother any one talking about hardwares that's synthy? most everything i'm grabbing i plan to use WITH modular stuff, so to me it seems Interest Adjacent enough? but if this should be All Modulars All The Time, i GET IT.

November November Never Forget The Misters Of Novembers - i did a longer ramble on the Cycles thread, but shortly - so far love it. knobs for single/dual functions where everything is top level? beautiful. fun to program, deep enough but still quick and easy, the sounds have solid presets and bases to build off, can get way different VERY quickly.

Black Box i went to because i miss a screen. not totally sure how i'll use her, but i like the layout way more than working with samples on Deluge.

annnnnd my Deluge is headed out tonight for a Squarpymid. dood is local, we're to geek out and mines, swap like spit. MEOW.

also, Flux gate sequencer KS ended, Builder Home Boy hopes to get them out in a couple months. NEAT.

I FORGOT THE SQUARPERS HAS A GATE AND CV IN. OKAY. THAT CHANGES EVERYTHING.
