Yup, Real Gone is classic.
You know, I just don't have a favorite record, or period. If i'm listening to Small Change i'm just as into it as if I'm listening to Bone Machine. I guess a great artist is just that, great. I do tend to stick to a period though when I play him, i'll feel a mood, grab the first record from the period that matches the mood and go chronologically from there.....i think i'm playing some tom waits tonight

oh that's so fantastic, I remember showbiz! It mad a huge impact on me musically! My older brother was a male stripper and let me wear his gold lamie blazer. I pretended I was Fatz...well, I've always been Mother's little chubbs, so it was only natural....
