Finished up Ao Haru Ride and it was shojo as fuck. Nothing groundbreaking but it was pretty well done overall.

I've seen people complaining about Motoko not being played by an Asian. And that Scarlett won't portray the wide "wide range of Motoko". But I can see it working if Kusanagi is presented as an neutral/detached Android like the original OVA and not Blackwidow with purple hair. I'm just not looking forward to seeing a real actor talking seriously about Cyber Brains being hacked.

Honestly, the first Matrix probably will still be a better GiTS ripoff movie.

Here are my thoughts on the clip. Been trying to figure out a way to organise my thoughts on this so I might as well write them here. Chances are I'm way off though, would probably help if I understood the lyrics. I guess I will go sequence by sequence (with the benefit of hindsight to make this more coherent).

Sequence 1: Despondent guy with "Otaku" paraphernalia lays on his bed daydreaming and is transported into ecchi land. Poster above bed suggests the girl is either a character from something or an idol? Based on the following sequences I posit that she is a sort of manifestation of the guys "Otaku-ness".

Sequence 2: We are introduced to high heeled quad-eye lady which I will hereby refer to as "evil lady". The glossy and safe sexuality of the previous sequence turns dark and sinister, evil lady seems to be the source of the transformation. Guy is obviously uncomfortable and sequence ends with his head being crushed by breasts.

Sequence 3: Evil lady jumps out of tablet(?) and tries to get up into guys face. The figurines (another object of his otaku obsession, a literal monkey on his back?) crawl on his face and evil lady pulls off a mask to reveal a lustful human face. She proceeds to vomit saliva (cum?) into his mouth and he trips out.

Sequence 4: The next scene is probably the most telling to the story I think (also kind of confusing). *Insert trippy stuff here* and then we see three people in a circle and it is Dream guy, past guy and non-evil lady (or just "lady"). Lady is crying and past guy looks hurt but ultimately finds the situation to be too difficult/a pain and walks away. Dream guy clearly regrets his past decision and desperately reaches out to girlfriend but is dragged away (or "can't go back"). He is then half devoured by evil lady and through a kiss from still crying lady it's revealed that lady/evil lady is guys girlfriend of some sort through picture frame flash back. The girlfriend then falls into the abyss and becomes evil lady. *Side note: I orginally though maybe she cheated on or something(?) and that's why he found those sexual thoughts so harmful but that was before I figured out that dream guy and past guy were both present and different individuals.

Ok, so theory time for what has happened so far: Girlfriend and guy are having happy times but guys otaku obsessions are interfering with their relationship and the girl wants more. Guy ultimately decides that she isn't worth the trouble and out of desperation the girlfriend becomes sexually aggressive in order to try and win him over but guy remembers what he had/how lucky he was and feels like an arsehole. He feels like he has lost her.

Sequence 5 & 6: Guy goes mech man mode and is fighting ecchi girl. In my mind this his struggle against his obsessions in an attempt to change himself so he can "bring back" his girlfriend. The girlfriend is then absorbed into evil lady and we have a final showdown between her and ecchi girl army begins. Dude loses and is devoured almost completely implying that he wasn't able conquer his own thoughts and "save" his girlfriend. It then loops back to the beginning and presumably his internal struggle begins again. Very poignant for anyone struggled to change themselves or is obsessed with past regrets, very much hit home in regards to my struggle with mental illness and how I've treated some people close to me in the past poorly because I couldn't deal with anything other than my own shit.

So yeah, sorry if I explained that poorly but that is my theory. I would like to hear you guyzez thoughts.

This pretty much sums it up I think.

I also get the metal issue undertones. I've had similar struggles with treating people like shit/pushing people away because of my issues. Kinda where I got the feeling of loss from, that kinda of hollow feeling.

i have weird taste so by all means it could make you angry i just pick a bunch of shows at the start of the season and keep the ones that i find myself enjoying, often the stuff that fits my tastes ends up being disappointing because it's not as good as a similar show in the same vein so it can be good to branch out a bit.

maybe avoid Yurikuma Arashi and KanColle though. i could not comprehend either of those shows. the new SHAFT one was pretty meh too unless cooking/slice of life with slightly erotic undertones is your kinda thing.
