i got burnt on Marbles. it's good, but the gate stuttering is the thing i liked the most, seemed too much room for just that.
woooooo got that 100 Grit and WMD Spectrum in.
I've already got a Marbles and no real reason to reduce hp especially as I'm about to buy a larger case.

What are some Swiss Army knife-like modules that would be good as mod sources but also can be used as oscillators to work with other semi modular gear?
Currently have: Grandmother, DFAM. Likely getting a push 2 and have been using Ableton/CV tools to control DFAM so if I put together a little modular rig of sorts it would be up in that mix.

Disting is almost literally a Swiss Army knife of a module. It honestly does too many things.
Mannequins Just Friends and Mutable Tides immediately come to mind; both are excellent mod sources and oscillators. I honestly have trouble using my Just Friends as a mod source though because it sounds too good as an oscillator.
Mutable Stages would also work and Make Noise Maths does lots of things. I really like my Xaoc Zadar and I am almost positive it could be used as an oscillator, but I've never tried.

Thanks. I know everyone talks of the Maths as being versatile. I'll check out the other stuff.

Quite interesting you use this as an oscillator because I use it as a modulation source. Of course, then again, I do not make ambient. Of course, one must consider the styles involved.
I would not call Just Friends a "Swiss Army Knife," however. It does two things in an idiosyncratic way. It oscillates or modulates. Am I missing some functions of this very interesting module?
If we are considering modules which do oscillation and modulation as "Swiss Army Knives" I would go ahead and recommend the extremely excellent Intellijel Dixie II. The Dixie II+ is probably even more versatile but I do not know as I do not own the Dixie II+ - just the Dixie II. Also it does not cost one arm and one leg.

I have a modular tale of woe. As I probably mentioned several times, I am moving away forever in a couple weeks. But I want to replace the Plonk in my rack with my Arpitecht. But I had packed up my Arpitecht already so it is truly a tale of woe. In reality, I am meant to couple my modular with an Elektron Analog 4 Mark One but do not at present have the mental energy to properly learn how to use the Elektron Analog Four Mark 1. So...

Yeah Just Friends and Tides aren't quite Swiss Army knife modules. I more so suggested them because Faldoe mention specifically wanting a mod source that can also be used as an oscillator, which both can do very, very well.
The true Swiss Army knife modules are Maths and Disting. They can do pretty much everything.

Disting is the ultimate if you want a basic version of a LOT of things in a tiny package. Downsides are the limited tweaking but I think it's well worth the space in nearly any rack.

Been wanting to try out a Raven for a while so got one of those with their midi/power module and two 4hp Envelope Generators (with some great features in a small package)

So I was watching some videos on the Bloom and QuBit were using Chord in a bunch of the demos. So naturally I am now gassing for a Chord as well. Surprisingly I have about 14hp "extra" in my plan rack so it will actually fit in.
Behndy, I know you owned a Chord, did you like it? Thoughts?

iiiiiiii did NOT. but. take all the grains of salt, because i don't like QuBit. can't jell with their interfaces, end up hating using them.
it's not them, it's me.
the Chord 2 was fun for a few times, i nevee got anything i loved out of it though.
