It's not for everyone. That's for sure. I mean I've never had a hamburger/steak and I eat meat.

Had one of these tonight:

I admit it, I bought it purely because I liked the logo. Thankfully, it turned out that I liked the beer too. I'd have it again.

Wait what? You eat meat but have never had steak or a burger? I hope I'm drunk and completely misinterpreting your statement, because that's plain wrong. Pretty much the two best foods ever.

That is how I select my bottled wine purchases (because I know nothing about fine wines).

It's aight, Bloo - fancy beeuhs ain't for everyone. Personally, when it's a super hot gross day out, there's nothing I like more than an ice cold Corona. But there's so many crazy beers out there, I can't help but want to try the funky ones out. Plus, I'm a cheap date - I max around 3 beers on a WILD NIGHT OUT, so I like to make 'em count, so to speak.

I've had some of the finer beers before and enjoyed them. Last night was just the first time I've posted in this here thread in LOOOONG time, and I felt all skanky and gross because of my choice of poisons.

COORS: MAKES YOU FEEL SKANKY AND GROSS!
I think we may have a new marketing slogan here, folks!

Saison du Buff marks the second time i've really enjoyed a beer related to Dogfish Head. excellent excellent saison.
3 Floyds Alpha King is fucking amazing, like everything else they make.
Maudite was pretty good too.
a local brewery that doesn't do bottles, only tap, the Market Garden (if you're in CLE go there. its a necessity)
their scotch ale was fantastic, but tasted kinda like a belgian, and their saison was very good, but kinda tasted too sweet, like a kinda earthy hefeweiss, but still rly rly good. the scotch ale was vooderbrah

Spent a good chunk of last week way out in the wilds of Maine and had some tasty brews. Somehow, I lost most of the photos I took of the beers.
This guy made it, though. It was mighty yummy, too.
Other highlights included a nice bottle of Brother Thelonius Abbey Style Ale, and the White Birch Smoked Imperial Brown Ale.
Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

I visited my friends' store yesterday, and found that they had made some convenient little seasonal mixes. I'm a sucker for a mix-a-six. So I picked one up, as well as a 12 of the Sierra Nevada Summer Camp mix.
Having friends who own a liquor store is proving to be a VERY mixed blessing!

Anyhow, I was most interested in the Newcastle Werewolf and Magic Hat Hex, but am coming off a bad cold, so my palate is all effed up. They both tasted o.k., but I couldn't help but feel that I was missing half of the actual flavor. DAMN YOUSE, STUPID HEAD COLD!!!
My friend and I also had an interesting conversation about the gimmickiness of most seasonal beers (he was talking about how one of the reps they deal with was actively dissing the seasonal offering, while saying, "It sucks, but people buy it by the truckload."). Me, I'm always up to try one - I know it's a gimmick, but there are so many beers out there, trying something new once or twice a season feels like a fun gamble. Unless it's truly horrible, hey - it was still a beer.

maybe the reason seasonals suck is because people (read: microbreweries) are so obsessed with stouts and IPAs that they don't know how to do any other style well.
