yeah. i liked Bright. it felt exactly like watching Alien Nation, but modern'd up.

would totes be into a series. probably with someone besides Big Willy. he's good, but i don't think he'd be into the commitment and he might get.... grating. after a bit.

El Camino Xmas was worth watching. every single thing was super predictable, but i think that's the only thing i've ever liked Tim Allen in?

I actually checked what else the guy who made Bright directed and he's responsible for Suicide Squad, which was so bad I stopped watching after 15mn.
Pretty glad I didn't check that before or I might have passed on this one...

which is weird because he made Training Day, which was decent, End Of Watch, which was also predictable, but GOOD, Fury, which was.... good? i get super bored at war movies though, so i'm not the best one to judge them.

but. i think Suicide Squardé was the only pure shite thing he did? and that was fucked from jump, extra fucked after Guardians made all the money ever and they tried to retool it to be cutesy and witty and quippy not dark.

Finished Dark. Fantastic yet... unsatisfying (which creates one hell of a hook for the next season).

It's not there yet, but if they keep going in the right direction, it will be soon.
I love this show. Invisible Woman and I wish we could binge the shit out of it.

Bright was so strange...a great concept that quickly descended to ‘dumb LAPD Chase movie’ levels. I want to see more of that world, which is good considering there’s a sequel in the works. Please god give it to someone beside David Ayer.

Sorry to echo this twice but there is an Arby's joke in the routine. Worth it just for that bit.

I've watched the first two episodes of Dark and it's pretty good so far. Kinda like a German Twin Peaks.

And the music is by Ben Frost, which explains why it's great...

I didn't realise Ben Frost did the music. That makes me even more excited to start watching it

I watched Bright on Netflix last night. I enjoyed it, I would watch another movie or a series set in this world. All the urban fantasy on TV seems to be CW style 20 something romance dramas about vampires or people who discover they're vaguely magic and have to choose a light or dark side. I'm down with a Tolkien-esque world of urban fantasy, with orcs and elves and dwarves and halflings brought to its logical conclusion as just being part of every day life and everything just comes back to class, race, power and commodity. They name checked dwarves, but didn't show them, so that leaves room to grow. No halflings, but I suspect they would only live in the suburbs or midwest small towns.
