you're not alone...that's the model Phil Lesh was playing for awhile, and the post-Deadheads on the old Grateful Dead forum made fun of it, calling it "the LiteBrite bass" for its huge, ludicrously bright LED fretboard markers. i'm still not sure whether he switched to his present bass because he liked it better or because he was embarrassed by the merciless mockery (post-hippies, like children, can be startling in their brutal cruelty).

i should have thought of powder-coating. it looks a lot like the powdercoat on my bicycle frame.
