SRV makes me cringe. I don't think there's anything wrong with having chops if you use 'em tastefully. But there's an undeniable blandness about his work. And it's over-produced too. Plus he bastardized something near and dear to me personally-the blues. I love blues from the 20's-40's.Usually just a guy and a guitar and a bottle of whiskey, not much more honest than that. Anybody ever seen Ghost World? There's a part where this guy goes to a night club to see an elderly bluesman perform. But he's just an opening act for some amped-up,"Texas Blues" style outfit called Blueshammer and they're these white kids with distortion pedals and a full band set up. I think that's what a lot of people are hating on around here. But that shit is the FURTHEST thing from the blues. Check out Blind Willie McTell,Blind Lemon Jefferson,Charley Patton,Blind Willie Johnson,Skip James, and Son House- :excellent:

I play with a guy that plays all that old stuff, it is a real challenge as a bassist [actually for the whole rhythm section] to make the really older stuff work in a electric band context. I while I agree that most modern blues [brit and post brit] just isn't the same thing, I think SRV is a very good Rock and Roll guitarist and they have a few songs I really like [like can't stand the weather]. Personally as for blues I tend to lean twords the "Chicago/big city" style then traditional. As for Texas blue to me Freddie King is it! And that brings up the one musical thing that for some reason pisses me off more then most others....

See what I mean.... Yes, I hate Jeff Beck, so what?

The Freddie King's "Going Down" dominates Jeff Beck's version in every way. Plus, Freddie King's was the opener for Eastbound and Down :thumb:

Oh my god... This is a really awful rapper that goes to my school, he takes himself way too seriously... :picard:
X-State wrote:Since the age of 13 rebels as a child, Robert Parliament, stage name known as (X-State) or (Spit Jr.) has made his way around the school, since grade 8, people would tease him about his style and also the way he would dress. He in grade 8, would always have an mp3 player everywhere he went, since he was an early bird at age 10 or 11 he had first listened to the white rapper know as (Eminem)(50 Cent)(Dr. Dre). In grade 9 one summer X-State would get into the music so much that he wanted to rap, but it wasn't an easy go for him. The first time i wanted to rhyme i focused so hard, i remembered having a pen, or a pencil with me, plus a sheet of paper, also i had my mp3 player with me, i would never go any where with out it, i looked down and wrote something, erased it, then gave up after a min. Then after summer, in his high school years, he was then bugged again by everyone around him, bullied to extent of almost suicidle, 4 times, arguements with parents, moving back and forth, drama in everyday life at school, being to the point of being kicked out by a hair. After grade 10 he had then picked up his first electrical guitar, i remembered it like it was yesterday, i bought it straight from the hock shop, i was surprised that i could learn, without any lessons but the internet, i learned tabs off youtube. I then got into covering songs and singing, with an oldschool karaoke machine and a dollar store microphone, i was surprised that it worked for a dollar, but shit, what ever works. I then began to pick up on a depressed side as everyone around him teased me. He then grew out his hair and became into a punkish style person, he had dyed his hair black and blue and straightened it to look like a impersonator of an emo. As things were getting lower and lower each day, he had then set a date for a court hearing. Yes you heard court, he then was sentenced to probation, and just when he thought things could get any worse, it had gotten better, he had met a couple brothers that he use to go to school with and a couple of his sister, older friends, he came to come around to his senses, he had then looked into getting back into rap, he had shaved his head, and starting rapping at the age of 17, rhyming over instrumentals, and listening to music everywhere he went, "I had boughten so much cds that i couldn't stick them into the cd holder anymore" At age 17 i had boughten my own piano and began making beats. X-State decided to read books and meet more friends, that's what inspired me he says, every peice of shit that put me threw something was being put into my lyrics, the expressions and everything, i was picked on my whole life, and had to end it somewhere, and rap showed me, i could relate to other genres, but not threw the way i listen to it, other may think im crazy, well, to say the least yeh, i am crazy, every day was different for me for the people around me who didn't know, i got bullied in like every class, but it was the same kids that at the end of the day i would come home and write about it. Since the day i started rap i realized looking back, "WTF was i doing?". To say the least, i know i was not human. I was searching threw my closet and i had found a bag that i use to wear back in grade nine, i kinda laughed at it. I said woah man, it had G-Unit written allover it, plus famous rapper names, i was like, yo, where the frig was my talent at? I am now in the bundle of saving up money, and already had talked from a contact from a recording studio. I am going to save my money and pay for my talent, that's what i want to do, i wanna start small and get out there, for everyday i work, i will work more on talent. People will never know how hard it is, but first i gotta give my time with schooling, but also time with the recording studio. I will be in school and recording, this is the bio for X-State, thank you very much for reading, Much love, Robert Parliament.

He doesn't even speak in the same narrative throughout the entire bio! HOW CAN HE EXPECT TO RHYME WELL WITH SUCH BAD GRAMMAR!
He deleted his youtube chan with all his songs, they were awful...

I don't know why Jeff Beck would annoy anyone, he's the least offensive of those old rockers since he actually experiments a lot, has kept up with the times and has put out music that's not just all noodling or EPIC BLUES BEND. He's great live too.

Listen to "Jeff" sometime, it's an awesome album.

Another addition: Travis Barker. BMW driving, high-charting poser. I don't usually call bands sellouts, but if there is one, it's blink 182.
